Rock Band isn't nearly as milked as Guitar Hero. Rock Band isn't milked at all because they mostly release new songs via DLC.  "

I'm really looking forward to Rock Band 3. I haven't hit music game saturation yet.

Added to rental list. If EA bring that online code across all their franchises, this will be removed from the rentals list. And sadness will reside.

I have stopped myself from playing music games for a few months now. By the time RB3 comes out, i'll be ready to jump back in.

They are definitely adding some cool things.  It's nice to see that it's a sequel that should actually be a sequel.  As much as I'll want it I really probably won't play it too much.  I'd rather just stick to DJ Hero.  

Bohemian Rhapsody is going to be no fucking fun to play unless you're one of the two instruments that is in the song for more than a minute.

I was just going over in my mind how I don't know if I want to spend $200-400 on a full kit and how crummy the partial setlist was, then I got to the 1980s.  They just crushed me the The Cure and Dio.  Day one purchase.

Yep, I'm sold. Just Like Heaven AND Break On Through.

 For anyone that didn't watch the video/missed this tidbit: there will be a Pro mode with an actual Fender guitar. Given Harmonix's record, I'm going to guess this renders "Rise of the SixString" utterly stillborn, but I don't know for sure. If you don't want the instrument, you can also purchase a "fake-real" guitar, that simulates the fretting with a ton of buttons, or just play with the standard 5-frets. This is seriously a game changer.
 
Plus the 25-key keyboard, plus three extra cymbals for the drums.

Isn't this all just too much for people? I keep getting the feeling that it is. But I'm like THE target demographic for this game, having purchased about 80% of the DLC they've put out so far, an expert player on all instruments with many 1st place expert guitar scores, who's been getting a little tired of the formula, and who's been brushing up on their actual guitar skills. I genuinely enjoy listening to and being exposed to new music through these games, so somehow it's never gotten stale for me, and this announcement is making my fucking head spin. I consider myself equal parts music fan and gamer, but since Guitar Hero II I haven't been able to pry myself away from rhythm games long enough to appreciate much else, and it looks like the cycle will continue.

so is Jump or Come Sail Away gonna show up? Too bad this wasn't in Beatles Rock Band so I can play Hey Jude

I thought I was finished with these games but Rock Band always seems to get me excited. I need a new guitar and that keyboard and I'll be set.

Having the Ion Drumset already, this is an easy purchase.  Plus, if the Pro mode is available in guitar as well, which it looks like it will be, this is the fresh breath of air into the series.  I love the series dearly, and I have pumped in more hours and money than I care to realize, but it has been a lot of fun learning to play the drums through this game.  I am all for the innovation, and Harmonix seems to always get it right.  

This looks awesome, but its not even close to the authenticity of kid rock.

I think it looks pretty cool. When the keyboard comes out they should patch Beatles: Rock Band for keyboard support.

All those years of piano made a nerve in me twitch seeing that guy play with only one hand. That's just wrong! So wrong! Those poor keys...

I didn't check the USA Today story, but Kotaku is reporting a guitar peripheral with actual strings.  For anyone who invested in the people behind PowerGig: Rise of the Sixstring, I'm sorry.

FUCK YEAH love the Doors. Like Seriously in the past few months I fucking fell in Love with them. Sold Big Time.

Maybe I will actually purchase the instruments this time.

 If they say I can import my songs from rock band 2 AND from one to this. I will but the most expensive bundle they can provide me. Including the realistic guitar for pro mode and all the goodies.
 
I loves my DLC.
 Not as important though, I wonder if they will go through the back catalogue and update older DLC to use the new instruments and pro mode at any point...

Between the keyboard, Pro Mode, and the setlist (Rainbow in the Dark, The Power of Love, Just Like Heaven, Crazy Train, Here I Go Again, Sister Christian, Bohemian Rhapsody, Break on Through, and Crosstown Traffic), I'm sold.  Pre-ordering the keyboard bundle tomorrow.
