Is From Software Straight Up Killing Early Dark Souls Players?

If the copies are legit they shouldn't be griefing the customers. Between this and the chat issue, they are quickly making this a game I'll get only if I have extra cash as opposed to a guaranteed purchase.

I keep trying to convince myself that Dark Souls is something I want to play, but every time Vinny talks about the game's madness, that idea disappers.

Really, fuck everyone who played Demon's Souls and sells it like an e-peen experience.  It's the ultimate case of the fans ruining the band.

Demon's Souls simply asks you to experiment with a variety of mechanics and apply them to novel situations without the benefit of in-game tutorialization. It is completely up to the player as to how you navigate the game's obstacles, and there are MANY strategies for dealing with each seemingly intractable problem. If you are persistent and creative, you will find Demon's Souls really rewarding.
 
 

Fucking serves them right. If I recall a bunch of these street date breakers are putting down fake or misleading hints on the ground.

I agree with this.   I love Demon's Souls. Probably my favorite game this gen but 90% fanbase...just holy shit. Just the worst kind of people you can imagine; don't let the idiots turn you off the game.

@Jumanji: Actually I've heard more from fans along the lines of - the game's not hard at all, I beat this boss in one go without even trying, anyone who says it's difficult just sucks at games and shouldn't even bother.

I love hear stories of my friends playing the first. I have played past the knight guy but it seems to be a bit grindy and it kinda loses my interest.

Haha, this is awesome! But if this is whats truly going on an easy way to stop the developers from punishing early copy getters is to play offline. At least for the time being.

Now what would truly be scary/awesome is if the devolpers could still eneter a players world even with the console having no internet connection...spooky.

I would say that unless you're playing in a heavy roleplay environment then the terms "player" and "player character" can be (and typically are) used interchangeably when referring to the user's in-game representation. When I blow up another person's ship in EVE Online I'm more likely to say "I just killed that player" than "I killed that player character." Really the only time I've made it a point to differentiate between Player and Player Character is when I'm playing D&D, because you're often speaking for one or the other and not both at the same time. I imagine the same would be true on an RP server for an MMO, but I don't RP in MMOs.

Whether or not the title of the article is "ridiculous" is a matter of opinion, however, so if you think it sounds stupid, then you think it sounds stupid. I think it would take anyone a severe leap of logic to read the article's title and have their first assumption be that From Software is literally murdering its customers, however. Unless they're just in a murdery state of mind at the time.

If GB does an endurance run of this, I Internet Promise that I'll buy a full paid membership to watch. When I'm not playing DS myself, anyway. It'll be a kind of meta self deprecation.

They're lucky, it sounds like a fun event.  Now I want to hear a story of someone beating the dev invaders.
 
And really, don't be deterred by stories of it being some unconquerable thing.  Don't be afraid of losing at a video game.  You're going to die.  It's a part of the game.  It's normal.  It's okay.  It's basically Trials HD in RPG form.

Shouldn't they be punishing the retails who broke the street date? Are customers supposed to know a game they find on the shelf wasn't supposed to be sold yet? If I didn't know this was some form of punishment for playing too early, wouldn't I just think this game really really sucks... like E.T. on the Atari 2600 where you just fell into a pit level of sucking?

Atleast the developers are getting to meet their users, and murder them.

Also when i read the headline i thought (for a second, that) the from strudios guys were straight up cutting fools, now that would be pretty messed up.

Harmless?? Hours of peoples life, down the drains. Think of all the souls lost!!!

As a fan of Demon's Souls, this is perfect.

Jesus Christ, people seriously have to stop with the "DEMON'S SOULS IS THE HARDEST GAME EVER!!!1" bullshit. It took me maybe 25-30 hours to finish it and I rarely felt frustrated at the difficulty.

The only times I ever died several times in a row was due to my own hastiness, trying to reach my body so I could keep the souls accrued up to that point (even though they were most likely worth 2-3 stat points at best).

MR. PATRICK KLEPEK. Please play this game. You won't regret it.

All developers should do this for every game that has ever been stolen/pirated or sold early. That would be cool. Just remove the game-breaking enemies at the 11th hour before sending the gold disc to production. Anyone stealing source code get's screwed.

I think I'll actually try this one. Skipped out on Demon's Souls, but I'll probably try this one.

Maybe that is because people are live streaming it right now when it isn't even supposed to be released yet. Just saying.

I played a ton of demon souls and I never understood why the gaming media constantly go on about how difficult the game is, I personally did not think it was that hard, If you played smartly you could easily go hours without dying and never once did I lose my souls as I was always able to get back to my blood stain.

I kept thinking the version that came out in the U.K was dumbed down but my friend had imported it before release and after playing the U.S version I found no difference, The game was unforgiving in terms of modern titles but since I am 29 and remember playing single levels in games for days upon days trying to get past one point maybe why I did not think it was as tough as everybody made out, In fact a lot of people I have spoken to that have actually played allot of the game say the same thing, It's mainly people who never got past the first couple of hour or have not played it at all that say its too hard.

Anybody hesitating to play these games because they're too hard is seriously ripping themselves out of the most amazing gaming experience, at least that I've had... for about as long as I can remember.
