It's Dangerous To Go Sober. Drink This.

Ain't no party like a Hyrulian party!

That DS is gonna be sticky before this is over.
That DS is gonna be sticky before this is over.
Look, I'm all for video games. I'm definitely all for drinking. I can appreciate the synergistic value of combining your passions. But when I saw the Triforce shot on Geekologie this morning, it occurred to me that a shot that consists of equal parts dark rum, 99 Bananas, and Goldschlager would be better named as “Ganon's Wrath” or “Liquid Regret.”

I'm not going to try and tell people how to live their lives, but you shouldn't have to try and sneak the alcohol into your body with silly names and gallons of high-fructose corn syrup. Also, when you're at a bar, and you order a drink with more than two ingredients, you're gumming up the works for people who know how to drink. That's not strictly related to this story, but good advice, regardless.

Video-game publishers are just as guilty as self-made mixologists of this behavior, and it's not uncommon to find gross syrupy mixed drinks with “clever” names at video-game launch events. My favorite, and another reason why I love Harmonix so goddamn much, was a drink called the “Alex Rigopulos” that was offered at the last Rock Band bar night in San Francisco. Its contents? Maker's Mark, neat. Now that's a drink.

I'd call it the Silver Arrow.  Goes straight to the gut and sets it on fire.

Goldschlager does bad things to people.  Try it with apple juice- it's really good.

I can only afford the ultra cheap Skol or McCormick's vodka when I get liquor. It's pretty much mandatory that one syrup the shit out of that rubbing alcohol-ish abonimation masquerading as vodka.

Either way, I "love" the absolut(ely)  hypocritical "anti-drugs" stance while you are all borderline alcoholics. Personally I'd prefer to green with the sticky.

Sounds superior, but I'd rather chug vodka and fresh orange, different kind of hangova.

Ryan speaks the wisdom of Drunk.  The sweet sweet truth.

Mixing Alcohol with anything is like falling slowly.  You know your falling, can't stop it, but for some reason you think it's better to delay impact.  Your going to get hammered, just let it happen.  Gurly man.

The only acceptable liquid for mixing into a alcohol drink is water.  In the form of ice and only when your starting to get dehydrated.  ;)

While it has nothing to do with video games, i found this on Geekologie as well, and i'm thinking Jeff, being the Burnout Paradise fan that he is, may just enjoy this as much as i did:

The quasi-medieval context of the Zelda universe demands a more manly, badass drink.  With all that rum it should be called the "Phantom Hourglass" or something.  Rum fits better with the nautical theme I guess.

I think Hylian is the pointy-eared native race of Hyrule, and a Hyrulian is anyone who lives in Hyrule. I could be wrong, though! =P

Tri Force shot sounds good to me.

I like all booze, I don't discriminate.  I am particularly partial to dark Rum though (Cuban of course), I think I may have been a Pirate in a former life.

Fuck you, Ryan! I'll drink however I want! As long as you get drunk, what does it matter? The Triforce Shot sounds awesome!

Although lately, all I've been drinking is Whiskey, need to get some variety in there.

As a barman I have to say the people who order 3 ingredient drinks, especially if they are all sugar filled alcopop things, need to have their head examined.

For the record though everyone should try out the following....

Full measure of silver tequila, full measure of vodka, half measure of gin and sambuca and finish with a small dab of tabasco sauce. That shit will end the night for you with a bang, literally.

I'm more of a beer and wine kind of guy. I like to top the evening off with a shot of tequila, but that's rare now a days. The wife frowns upon it.

Malibu is far tastier with lemonade or soda water. Coke or Pepsi takes too much of the flavour away from the Malibu.

Although personally, when it comes to spirits + mixers, I'm more of a Gin & Tonic guy. Normally I just stick to beer though.
