Kinect With Kinect Adventures To Hit This November At $150

Microsoft reveals Kinect pricing and bundles.

And just like that, all the fun speculation ends. Kinect will cost $150 and will ship this November with a copy of Kinect Adventures. It will additionally be sold in a bundle with the arcade version of the redesigned Xbox 360 this holiday for $300.

Retailers had it right about Kinect's price, and it looks like Amazon Deutschland nailed it in respect to the arcade SKU's storage. Microsoft has confirmed this morning that this version of the console will sport 4GBs of internal memory, a matte finish, and built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, according to official press materials. It will also be sold as a stand-alone unit for $200 starting on August 3, 2010.

No Caption Provided

Microsoft has confirmed that a selection Kinect launch titles, Kinect Sports, Kinectimals, Kinect Joy Ride, and Dance Central, will hit retail at a $50 price point. More than 15 games, according to Microsoft, will be available at launch. Pre-orders for either the bundle or Kinect will net future owners a download voucher for three "exclusive" levels in Kinect Adventures.

Thanks goes to fwylo for the initial intel!

UPDATE: Edited to reflect that pre-orders will net users day-one levels for Kinect Adventures.

Nice to see at least they aren't full 60 bucks.  I would've liked a pack in of Dance Central though.

Wait, didn't they say that all Kinect games would only be $40 during the press conference?  Then again, it wouldn't be the first time that a company completely changes it's business model after a conference (PS3 ''Boomerang'' controllers for one).

Its a pity that its selling for $150. I honestly doubt anyone is going to get this, except for people like me who might buy into this gimmick.

The bundle is less than ideal as well, since you're basically buying the arcade version with a lack of a HDD. Still, the bundle is an option for those who want to replace their Xbox 360 Slim (which hopefully shouldn't be too many) and wants to pick up a Kinect.

Pretty good upgrade for the Arcade version, getting WiFi and 4gigs, while maintaining the $200 price point.
I was also kinda surprised to see them price the Kinect games at $50, probably a smart idea, when trying to take on the Wii.

$150 for a glorified PlayStation Eye.   No thanks MS.
$50 for a collection of Mini Games that haven't been shown working flawlessly.  No Thanks MS.
$200 for a system that I'm gonna need the eventual $100 HDD upgrade for.  No Thanks MS.

I believe that's 3 strikes.  I'm out.

That definitely puts it out of the range that I'd be willing to pay for it. The problem is that if it doesn't sell well at all and Microsoft has to drop the price immediately, then developer support will go with it, and then you have a dead platform...

Too much.

There should also be three or so different pack in game options, ranging from more family oriented stuff to Dance Central.

I wonder why they're bundling it with the Arcade unit, as I'd like to get Kinect but I want a 250GB HDD with it. To be honest, the bundle is a better deal at $50 less than buying the console and Kinect separate, but I want my HDD.

I would not be surprised, depending on preorder numbers, if Microsoft wouldn't offer additional pack ins or free games with purchase when it comes out.

They are bundling it with the arcade for 2 reasons:

1) Make it cheaper!

2) draw in the target wii-user demographic.

People have an issue paying any price. They could come out tomorrow and say it's really $100 instead and people would believe it's a better deal by comparison.

Ha!
And to think that M$ or Sony can take the Wii market is just asinine! Nintendo has/had nothing to worry about at all, they brought motion controls to the casual space as a part of the Wii and that's where it will continue to dominate.

Also Nintendo is the "Disney" of the home consoles, that hits home with families and that's something M$ or Sony will never have. Sure they can jump to the motion control party late and everpriced but motion controls or not they are both still looked at as too "hardcore" for the average family.

$150 more on a console I barely even use anymore thanks to all the M$ BS in the first place, no thanks!

Considering that the $150 price point nets you the Kinect, which can be used by 2 players simultaneously as well as the pack-in game, it doesn't seem too bad to me.

It's £130 in the UK according to Kotaku. Microsoft found it within themselves to not fully rip us off. Just a tad.

The stand-alone sounds too much to me, but the $300 bundle isn't a bad deal for the new demographic they're trying to lure (family/casual).  I can see a family with young kids looking to get their first console and figuring a little more for an HD console which also streams Netflix and does away with the remote control making sense.

I think MS is actually treating this as a soft launch for this new technology and plans to take what they learn from it to incorporate fully into their next console (like they did with XBLA).

Until I see proof that this works at a kiosk, I'm not going to ever bite on it. Even if it does work, why would I want this garbage for? I play my games sitting down. Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort got old very fast. Most of my favorite Wii games require next to nothing in waggling and gestures.

I still can't understand why anybody finds Dance Central exciting, I guess they are DDR veterans who finally want a dancing game where they can do whatever they want.

Well I won't be getting it. I don't think any kind of announcement would have done it though.

Maybe if it was, "Kinect and all the "Kinect games" that were shown at E3 for $150". Which I didn't see happening. Even then, it would collect dust after the first week like my Wii is.

From a  two player perspective, this is actually a better deal then Move, which will net you aroudn 210 dollars if you want to do two players. Froma  one palyer perspective, Move is better at 130 dollars, but thats not that big fo a difference from kinects price which has potential 2 players for that same 150 dollars.

That depends exactly what Move stuff you're buying. You need one of the Move Controllers + the Playstation Eye, for definite. Then you probably want a sub controller, for games that use it (I imagine that would work better than the dualshock). Also, some games then use two Move Controllers at once. Then you need a game to go with it.

Move sounds cheap at first, but if you think about it it's exactly the same price for you to buy enough motion control for two people to play a game for each of the consoles.

I can already smell the stench of terrible failure emitting from Kinect.  If a grandma (or a family) has a Wii, they aren't going to rush out to buy a whole new system with a whole new gadget, even if it's better or different.  Grandma doesn't keep a video game budget...she just has her one system, probably doesn't even know there are OTHER systems, and will be content with bowling in Wii Sports for the rest of her days.  "Casual" means they don't buy everything, even every "casual" game on the system they already own.  God knows they won't drop down another $150.

If it sells well at all, it will be because of the inquiring minds at Giant Bomb and some of the people like us.   That'll be all.  Microsoft will issue a press release calling it the "Biggest Success in the Entirety of the Concept of Successes!" but then we'll all watch it shrivel up and die a very quick death.
