Last Dragon Age: Origins DLC To Address Morrigan's Departure

Guess we won't have to wait until Dragon Age II.

One last bit of paid downloadable content is coming to Dragon Age: Origins, and it's set to answer one of the biggest questions users had after chopping the head off of Ferelden's latest Blight: what's up with Morrigan?

Taking place a year after the fight with the Archdemon that closed the game's original storyline, "Witch Hunt" will allow adventurers and their crews to "confront" Morrigan after her mysterious departure. It will also address Morrigan's deep dark secret--the reason she decided to join up with the hero to begin with.

Witch Hunt will take place in a fresh, heavily forested area, as well as what appears to be a man-made cavern (go figure). The forest looks like it has a small dragon kin problem, while the cave-thing appears to be infested with skeleton-things or ghouls (again, go figure).

Developer BioWare is promising that players of Witch Hunt will "earn powerful rewards"  that can be used in Awakening and Origins proper. This is in addition to learning of Morrigan's secrets, of course, which are priceless. Also, if you want to start from scratch with a new character, apparently you'll be able to do that.

The DLC hits September 7 across all three of the game's platforms and will be sold for seven bucks (or 560 Moon Bucks on the PC and Xbox 360). BioWare is suggested that this the last bit of content for the RPG, which makes sense since Dragon Age II is well on its way.

Witch Hunt and Lair of the Shadow Broker on the same day?  Time to stock up on Bioware points.

These ''powerful rewards'' have all been pretty bleh, thus far. Still I'm absolutely buying this when it comes out. This with the Liara DLC makes this one Wednesday I'm excited for <3

lawl. Railworks has new DLC like every day, it's insane. Maybe I'll pick this up Morrigan is one of my favorite characters in the game.

I haven't played Dragon Age, but the girls I know still do. That to me is a blessing, thanks Bioware!

Posted by phrosnite

Leliana is my favourite DA girl so...
Morrigan was an interesting character but I'm mostly interested in if "child"or "no child" is canon.

Man Bioware you are eating through my wallet this year.

This isn't just about you and me, Morrigan. My half-dwarf demon child needs to have a father. You know how hard being a single parent can be in these trying times! Now, will you please stop being a spider so we can talk about this?

Neat.

I have a feeling this will tie in with the new game.  They dropped some hints in the Dragon Age 2 reveal article in Game Informer.

More than likely since Flemeth looks to play a large role in DA2.

So - is the Dragon Age 2 character Morrigan's child?

*Sigh* Need to play the first game.

Between this and Mass Effect II, it's amazing.

Nah. Hawke's story transpires alongside the Origins storyline. Beginning in Lothering close to the start of Origins.

I hope they release a GOTY edition of this with all the DLC and Awakening and everything.

Posted by TheCreamFilling

Will there be GotY edition? Cause I'd really like to pick this game up.

You're telling me. Bioware have drained us with all this DLC but I must have it.
Oh, and I am very excited about this.

Very excited for this. Nice to know that they're wrapping up this particular storyline for my warden.

Also, got a good laugh out of this, so thank you for that.

First DA:O DLC I will pick up, if it's done well enough I could see myself getting the expansion too.

I'm really curious as to what will happen storywise in this DLC. At the same time, it seems like it'll disregard some of the choices made in Origins, just like Awakening did. I say this because *spoilers* if you tell Morrigan at the end (in case you decided to have a baby with her) that you'll look for her, there's a panel that says you searched across the land but could never find her.

Dunno... Flemeth shows up in the first minutes of DA2 because Hawke lives in Lothering and all takes place before Lothering got pwnd.
Bioware should just come out and say if "child"or "no child" is canon, if "dead Flemeth" or "alive Flemeth" is canon... and some other things...
I know that "kind Alistair" is canon.

I think 'alive and dead flemeth'' is the same canon, since Morrigan says herself that it's unlikely that she's truly dead or what have you. Also this ''kind alistair'' thing; is this to do with him having a personality change to a complete cock? I've read about it but never knew how to actually initiate it =/

Wtf? Really? I thought the point of Dragon Age was to hunt down and kill each upcoming blight's archdemons. This makes Hawke's entire story seem meaningless to me. But I guess it's a little too soon to pass such harsh judgement.

@Abyssfull:
If 10 years is enough for her to recover...
I read on the dragon age forums that Bioware has said King Alistair is canon and I think he is married to that bitch.

Edit: What's up with Hawke's demon hand we saw in the trailr?

@phrosnite:
Ohhh you mean King Alistair..

It just sucks its coming out right at the worst time for me.

this DLC sounds great. if a GOTY version is released, it would make a great Christmas present.

Posted by phrosnite

The best character in DA was Shale and he was DLC :) a dlc which was cut-out to be offered as dlc :)

Posted by Milkman

Morrigan was legitimately one of the my favorite video game characters in recent memory so I'm very excited about this.

I really hope they leave that open, like in Mass Effect. Unless it plays a vital role on the future development of the franchise, I think that that issue shouldn't be considered "canon or non canon". "Word of God" only diminished the value of the choices you made while crafting your character...

Anyway, yay! I finished DA:O for the second time last week with an elven mage, but decided it was best for her to...

... so I started a male human warrior now. I'll plan to take up Morrigan's offer and continue with him through Awakening and Golems of Amgarrak, which I haven't played yet.

Meh, I was hoping they would try and incorporate it into the main progression-line more than just as DLC. I mean, Flemmeth is in the 2, why not Morrigan is some twisted way?! I figured she was already Flemmeth, maybe I am wrong. I'll have to play it to find out.

I think they can more or less step around that by saying you been looking for her. But i wonder will the DLC pick up on the choices you made like if she left early or if she did the deed with whoever will it pick up on that, i sure hope so.
