Left 4 Dead 2 Mac Hits October 5, Left 4 Dead Around Halloween

Nothing says Halloween like zombies and guns.

Start warming up your Magic Mouses, gentlemen (or alternatively, find a two-button mouse). Valve's Mac port of Left 4 Dead 2 is fast approaching, Valve has said in a recent, though somewhat hidden update, tucked under details about The Sacrifice DLC (via Joystiq). The studio plans to release the Mac version of the game on October 5 alongside the aforementioned DLC.

Mac owners who purchase the zombie shooter, or check it out for free because they already own the PC version, will have access to native versions of all the previous content released for the game. This is a list that includes The Passing DLC and the No Mercy campaign, which is packaged within The Sacrifice.

Left 4 Dead 2 is cool and all, but where's the first game, you ask? Valve has apologized for its absence, but has added in this same announcement that it hopes to get a Mac version of the original game out the door "in time to celebrate Halloween." Like L4D2, it's being promised that all previously released DLC and updates will be available day and date with that port as well.
