Left 4 Dead Demo Forthcoming

Arrgh! Zombies!

THRILLER!
THRILLER!
Ever since I got my first hands-on taste of Left 4 Dead at E3, Valve's team-based zombie-murder simulator has shot to the top of my must-play list. The interdependence of the gritty archetypal characters; the surprisingly speedy ferocity of the zombie horde; and heck, even the last-stand action of killing as many zombies as you can armed with just a handgun when you're on death's door--this is basically my ideal for how a zombie game should feel.

You too can know the exhilarating terror of too many zombies and not enough bullets, hopefully sooner than later. According to an interview with Valve's Gabe Newell on VideoGamer.com, a demo of Left 4 Dead is in the works for both the PC and Xbox 360. The demo will feature both single-player and online co-op play, and while it's not yet decided what section of the game will be featured in the demo, Gabe mentions the Hospital level that's been shown off to the press already, which makes a certain amount of sense. Giving more people a chance to experience the panic of Left 4 Dead can only be a good thing, though my only concern is that the demo actually drops before the game's November 21 release date. Seriously, putting out demos after the game's already on shelves seems to miss the whole point.

It is Valve, their games and Steam are awesome, but what are the chances of this actually hitting that release date?

this looks really good, but it'll be one of those games that when your parents walk in they are like, "I thought I raised you better than this" lol

It seems crazy that the game and the demo come out the same time, you would think they would want the demo out there so people pre-order. Hopefully this demo comes out before the game, it looks sick.

They just need to release a patch so I can play Source powered games on Vista and I'll be able to Rest in peace. Only to rise again and eat the person next to me.

I'm just glad this game will break the cycle of way-too-long-in-development-Source-game.  It only took a few years instead of ten, even though it's a glorified TC mod, but then again so is every Valve game.

Umm...demo not coming out earlier than the game is an epic fail. But whatever...better than nothing.
Maybe they are convinced the demos make people less inclined to buy games...as has happened to me quite frequently in the past O.o

I'm a fan of all things Valve, but I'm a little girl when it comes to zombies, maybe the demo will sway me.

@Torb

Ryan didn't confirm that the demo would be post-game. He just said that he hope it didn't come out after the game did.
