Lips Returns This October

Microsoft's karaoke game is returning with a new track list.

This is old Lips. I'm just guessing here, but I bet new Lips looks pretty similar.

Microsoft has announced Lips: Number One Hits, the follow-up to iNiS' 2008 karaoke game for the Xbox 360. The game will hit this October and it sounds like it'll offer a lot of the same features. Several songs were also confirmed:

  • Coldplay - Viva La Vida
  • Rihanna - Disturbia
  • MC Hammer - You Can't Touch This
  • Extreme - More Than Words
  • Timbaland (feat. OneRepublic) - Apologize
  • Culture Club - Karma Chameleon
  • Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through the Grapevine
  • Roy Orbison - Oh, Pretty Woman
  • Tokio Hotel - Ready, Set, Go!

The aim of the game is to deliver a diverse set of songs that, as the name may imply, have hit #1 on one or more "major global chart." That means that stupid Extreme song was, at one point, a #1 hit. Gross.

Last years casual focused Nintendo press conference was thousands of times more watchable than the shitty Microsoft one where Duffy gets on stage.

I hope this is also available as a downloadable addon but somehow I doubt it. I bought the original Lips one night while drunk and I've been noticing the disc in my 360 when I get home from work. Turns out my girlfriend plays the crap out of it while I'm away but won't admit it. I'll buy this one for Hammer alone.

I see Microsoft is going whit the SingStar strategy. Releasing a "new" singing game every 2 weeks. Well this was to be expected so no real surprise.

@TheKidNixon: Both versions are great, and they're both ending up in different karaoke games, so it doesn't really matter.

Terrifying news, hopefully they realize the error of their ways and burn the hard drives containing Lips data.

right when the original Lips is starting to wind up on clearance bins for $35 and even as low as $10. Hopefully this expansion pack won't cost more than thirty dollars for the game alone.

That, and this song requires a second person for the harmony vocals. Double the pain.

The Van Halen cover of Pretty Woman is much better, but hopefully it will make it into that stupid Guitar Hero game.... ugh. Also, Extreme, Marvin Gaye... and MC Hammer are all great choices.

Besides Marvin Gaye and Roy Orbison, I say "no". And I already can play Roy on Rock Band, so, no interest here.

Might just be thinking about 2 Legit 2 Quit. Man, I miss the 90s, when correct spelling was negotiable.

Meh. I never got the appeal of Karaoke games when you can just play Rock Band.
