LittleBigPlanet 2 Beta Coming To The US Soon
by Brad Nicholson on
Eventually, the US and other countries will be able to show off their pre-release games within games.
"Yes, beta codes are going out," SCEA marketing manager Mark Valledor wrote on the blog, "But globally, we’re taking steps to best test our server environment, so we’re distributing beta codes in phases. The first phase of testing started earlier this week with our European LBP community. In a few weeks, we’ll be growing the participant base with US and other countries."
Valledor promised that "more news [is] to come," regarding the global release of the beta client, which leaves some room to speculate that Media Molecule and SCEA might be planning to offer traditional sign-ups for the rest of the beta phase. Alas, hard details on how the beta will be distributed were not shared.
If you want a hint as to how to get into the forthcoming US beta (if there won't be sign-ups), check out how European testers were picked. In Europe, testers were chosen based on how active they are in LBP. Room wasn't made, apparently, for those who put the game down a few times since its 2008 release.
== TEASER ==LBP2, like its predecessor, is generating buzz with its user-creation component, the focus of the beta. According to previous coverage, you can make just about anything you want to make with the online tools this time around, including an RTS or a dual-stick shooter. To be honest, I'd like to jump into the beta just for the practice, but I suppose that defeats the noble purpose of this beta.
