BioWare has kicked off the PR cycle for their next sci-fi RPG with a bang. Check out the first teaser trailer and concept artwork.
BioWare just sent out a quick email suggesting we visit MassEffect.com, and when I did, well, I was greeted by this first teaser trailer for none other than Mass Effect 2. And before you watch it, let me just say this is how you do a damn teaser trailer.
OK, how exciting is that? Tension building...admirable service record...alien buddies...all good so far...SHEPARD KILLED IN ACTION...GETH WEARING N7 TAG...WHAT THE HELL?! Bravo, BioWare. Way to turn my expectations right on their pretty little head. I didn't think I could be more interested in the sequel than I already was, but there you go. I wonder how this jives with the recent news that you can import your original Mass Effect save game into the sequel? What do you think this trailer means for the series' storyline?
The site is getting absolutely slammed at the moment, so if you can't access it, I've also nabbed the two concept art wallpapers posted along with the teaser.
Gah, in one sense I'm terribly excited about ME2, I loved the first one. However, at the same time, I didn't give up hours of my life to level my Shepard to 60 only to have him killed off minutes into the new game.
Colour me excited. It has been said before, but this is how you make a god-damn teaser trailer.
I am going to be so bummed if I can't use my level 60 charector. I worked hard for him. Mabye the DLC for the first game that they have been hinting at that could drop right before the second game ships, will show us how shephard died. Idk, I want him to live, I think this is a fake to fool the machines nd he is undercover or something, just my 2 cents
I think that Shephard will be in the second game but probably under cover. So they say he is dead so that no1 suspects him being a mole. That's why the Geth is in the N7 armour, it is showing that people are going undercover. Or i am completely wrong and HE DEAD ! Maybe if he is you could play as a clone or his son. Anyway good teaser lots to think about
I think I read somewhere that Microsoft has fairly strict rules about saves being constant between games. This might be a result of Microsoft's policy of no porting saves. If you can't use your high-level character, Bioware needs a good reason.
Just hope the framerate issues and confusing menu's that hindered the first have been improved. Either way im ready for this and im expecting it to deilver.
Damn you Bioware!!! Not fair, not fair, the anticipation is fucking killing me! My Shepherd dead?! Say it's not so!!! PLEASE get this game rolling, I can't wait!
It'd be pretty lame if he really is dead. He was all fine and dandy at the end and for him to die in between games is like a kick in the nuts. They're probably trying to freak us out.
I am guessing that he is presumed dead so that he can go undercover. He made a pretty big name of himself against the Gith and Sarak, or whatever his name was.
I cant wait for Mass Effect 2. BioWare is a talented master when it comes to RPG's and story telling. I cant wait to play Mass Effect 2 on the Xbox 360.
But possibly you import your shepard but dont play as him, he's an npc of some sort possibly someone you can fight along side or just a story character, and you create a new character who you actually play as. That is if he is alive of course.

It's basically a way of saying, Shepard is dead, you're NOT going to be able to bring your characters over, which I thought would have been cool, but was probably hard to do for Bioware. But I don't know, we will see what happens. Can't wait. Maybe we'll play in an alternate universe where JENKINS is the arch villian. Who knows...

Bioware has already stated you will bring your character over. The actually have an interview explaining the process. Perhaps you haven't heard any ME 2 info, but Bioware has made it clear that your Shepherd will be coming in the next game.
After reading this thread, nearly everyone here is an idiot.
Do you honestly think Bioware would make you completely restart with a new character and new stats? That would be insulting to players and is poor game design. The developers of those Ubisoft games that end with a Z even know this.
Second, perhaps you should check out the website and maybe notice it says "cereberus". There is a quest in the game involving them and an enitre book on that undercover, sneaky organization. Honestly, Shepherd is in NO WAY in dead.
Finally, as I stated in my post above, there are INTERVIEWS where Bioware describes how you will import your character into Mass Effect 2.
This is a clear way to generate hype for the game but, anyone who knows anything will be able to see through this.
For those who don't want to watch the trailer, I think I can sum up what happened.
Mass Effect 2: Arcturus Mengsk killed Shepard! Raynor's going to avenge him, but Fenix's ghost tells him Jack Bauer and Chuck Norris are secretly planning to take over the known universe with Norwegian Penguin Death Squads. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker uses the force to make a wicked ham samwich for his old buddy, Predator. BUT PREDATOR IS REALLY A PREDATOR ZOMBIE INFECTED WITH THE G-VIRUS! IN STORES NOVEMBER 1, 2009.
Obvious Red Herring. Shepard has faked his death and "gone underground." It wouldn't be an RPG unless you were part of a rag tag rebellion trying to speak the truth that the government controlled people don't believe.
