Mass Effect Trilogy in a Single Package This Fall

Plus, PS3 owners to eventually have access to the original game.

Having all three Mass Effect games in a single package for $59.99 is one hell of a deal.
Having all three Mass Effect games in a single package for $59.99 is one hell of a deal.

Electronic Arts and BioWare are packaging the Mass Effect trilogy as a single package this fall, giving you Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 for $59.99.

Even better, the original Mass Effect is coming to PlayStation 3. The catch? The trilogy package is coming to Xbox 360 and PC on November 6, while the PS3 compilation is “at a later date.”

In addition to a package deal, the original Mass Effect will be available as a standalone download on PlayStation Network, whenever that version is finished.

This coincides with the announcement of N7 Day on November 6, a “worldwide celebration” of the franchise that will coincide with a “variety of in-game, online and live events.”

Guys just buy the WiiU version, sure its 60 bucks and only contains 1 game that is a year old but Reggie says "its a different game" and those PR folk would never lie to us?

This makes the WiiU version seem like a funny gag, a joke. Much like MGS3 3DS compared to the MGS HD collection

Any word on whether the DLC for all of these games will be available in this package? Mass Effect had some DLC so I'm wondering if it'll be playable on the PS3.

Honestly, the ME1 DLC is not worth your time anyway if it's not.

Why did I even buy you ME2? Well, two out of three for a collection isn't bad.

As a PS3 owner, I'm PSYCHED that the first Mass Effect is coming to PS3. I borrowed a 360 and a Mass Effect from my friend to play and I think it is the Mass Effect(I still LOVE ME3. I just think first ME was better.) Hurray for me!

Include the DLC and this will be the best game ever. I hope they get the pricing right on PC as I think you can buy all 3 of the base games for less than this will cost already.

This is great...

I played ME2 and 3 on the PS3, but I had to play the first one on the PC and use the comic to import most of my decisions.

That's cool, I'm happy that the people that didn't get a chance to play the original will finally be able to, although I wouldn't tell them to expect much when it comes to certain aspects of the game. That's not saying it's a bad game at all (it's merely really great), but from a game play perspective (not including the exploration bits), it's not quite as good as the other two in my opinion, and the frame rate, if it isn't improved, isn't very good. I would actually, in time, like to try this out myself.

I was kind of hoping this would be something they'd do next generation with updates, but this is fine. I'm still kind of done with Mass Effect though, but of course, things can change. I wonder if the DLC will come with it, then it really makes it a desirable package, even if it isn't all perfect add-ons. Right now I'm thinking about the PS3 version only because PS3 players didn't get to play it, but honestly, if I ever got it, I may get it on 360, maybe not though! The PS3 doesn't have to use separate disks. In the end it really depends on graphical performance I think.

Heh, glad I waited for the inevitable GOTY/collection version of ME3.

I would play through ME1 again with trophies and, hopefully, better optimized graphics.

Even though EA is a bloodsucking dinosaur out to scorch the earth they stand on, I still find this deal to be quite a nice gesture of goodwill. This would make an excellent gift to someone looking to get as much Mass Effect crammed into their brain as possible, I approve.

The first two games went on a steam sale for like $5 per game tops.... $60 for three games sounds like a terrible deal.

Very cool. Already played all three, but... cool.

But man, this makes the WiiU version of ME3 a COMPLETE rip off... Arguably the one system that could really USE a compilation of all 3, and it's instead getting a full-priced version of the last game... That sucks.

Sounds like a pretty nice deal if you haven't touched this series yet. I would buy this for a extra 20 bucks if there was a version with all the mako stuff from the 1st one, planet scanning from the 2nd one and the resource hunting and crappy citadel side quest from the 3rd one cut out.

Sounds good. I hope PS3 players get a better version of the first game that isn't plagued by stutter and general bad performance of the 360 version. I went through it once and never wanted to again cuz of that jank.

This is up there with the Orange Box in terms of bang for your buck. That's a lot of content for the price of normal retail game.

Looking forward to replaying all of my stupid decisions from Mass Effect 1 on PS3 now (as well as finally playing the rest of the series). I'm glad those long-standing rumors turned out to be true. Hopefully the PS3 version will run at least as poorly as it did on Xbox 360.

It 'needs' some of the DLC really though, Shadow Broker being the main one that comes to mind. Skipping that kind of content out really leaves a big section of story uncovered.

And yet no announcement for Wii U, a console that is randomly getting the 3rd entry to the series with zero context. Seriously, who is that port for, Mass Effect fans that haven't gotten around to the third game, but feel like the Xbox, PS3 or PC in their life is just not the right way to experience it?

I have had all games since their original launch dates, but I'm tempted to pick them up again in that nice packaging for the trilogy release. If they had a different/new set of achievements much like Batman AA and Batman AA GOTY, I would be all over that: another reason to play through the trilogy fresh.

I probably won't pick them up again, but it looks good. I really wish it had all the DLC for 1 and 2 (understandably why it doesn't have the DLC for 3), but what can you do. At least 2 might have the Cerberus Network codes?

I'm hoping that "N7 Day" is also the release of the ME3 Omega DLC.

Batman AA and it's GOTY had different achievements because they had different engines (the GOTY suddenly supporting 3D). I have a magical SSS-Rank in Batman Arkham Asylum.

That's great! Regardless of all the hoopla about ME2, ME1 is the title I enjoyed playing the most. Everything just clicked with me more in the first game (the story in ME2 was pretty solid though).

It would be awesome if the Port of the first game was remade with the ME3 engine. Of course, that could be the only option for them.

I'll be buying this whether it has any of the DLC included or not. There's enough game here that I won't miss it.
