Mass Effect Trilogy in a Single Package This Fall

Plus, PS3 owners to eventually have access to the original game.

Having all three Mass Effect games in a single package for $59.99 is one hell of a deal.
Having all three Mass Effect games in a single package for $59.99 is one hell of a deal.

Electronic Arts and BioWare are packaging the Mass Effect trilogy as a single package this fall, giving you Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 for $59.99.

Even better, the original Mass Effect is coming to PlayStation 3. The catch? The trilogy package is coming to Xbox 360 and PC on November 6, while the PS3 compilation is “at a later date.”

In addition to a package deal, the original Mass Effect will be available as a standalone download on PlayStation Network, whenever that version is finished.

This coincides with the announcement of N7 Day on November 6, a “worldwide celebration” of the franchise that will coincide with a “variety of in-game, online and live events.”

It'll most likely just be a port, but still I hope they improve the performance of the first Mass Effect for 360 and PS3. I remember playing it on my friend's 360 and was frustrated with the frequent 5-second loading times in the middle of gameplay, the pop-ins, the frame rate stutters, and the occasional glitches. To me it felt like a beta test for the pc version.

Awesome! Just hope they swap out endings on Mass Effect 3. Otherwise its just causing even more people to be confused / pissed off at the ending.

So should this game get its own page, or will the three game pages already in place suffice?

Hopefully this will get more people to play Mass Effect 1. The best in the series by far. That's alot of gameplay for $60. I would buy it if I didn't own them all already.

I wonder how they got around the fact that MS published the first game. I figured they held exclusive rights to that first game, otherwise ME1 should've been released on the PS3 some time ago. Also, I'm disappointed this isn't coming out for Wii U. You could sell it at $100 and sell ME3 alone at $60 like they're going to anyways.

@ProfessorMatrix said:

Awesome if you haven't played all 3 games, although honestly ME1 sucks! Assuming they haven't fixed those issues.

Story's still great though. And yeah the combat is bad but it's still better than Skyrim/Fallout/Oblivion combat.

Multiplayer just got extremely boring after about a month or so... haven't played since April and don't plan on playing. PVP would have kept me interested but that's not going to happen. The random equipment is annoying, you should be able to buy what equipment you want not just blindly picking a box just to be disappointed in the end.

I'm happy that PS2 exclusive owners will be able to get in on it.

I hope they weather their expectations, though. The gameplay, especially after playing ME2/ME3, can take work to get through. But I think the storytelling, conversations, and decision making are all worth it.

I can't help thinking if you're one of the PS3 owners who has only played 2 & 3 then playing the first game is going to be a weird experience.

I guess this is an obvious move for 360 because all they really have to do is package it, but doesn't this seem like something that should be on WiiU?

I may end up picking this up when it goes on sale. I have 1 on Xbox, 2 on the pc and 3 on the Xbox again, so I might just pick up this collection and maybe play through all of them on the Playstation 3. It would be cool if they could all fit on one Blu-Ray though!

Looking forward to it. I haven't played Mass Effect 1 (which is an XBOX 360 exclusive in '07), but thank goodness the HD Trilogy is coming. Black Friday, here we come.

Cool, I can finally experience the Mass Effect series. As far as dlc I'd hope that they at least package all the relevant dlc from the first 2 and whatever dlc from 3 that's injected into the initial story, anything taking place outside the main game for 3 I'd be happy to pay for.

Well, I wish they came out with this sooner. I bought the trilogy on Origin when it was on sale for PC and now it looks like keyboard/mouse for at least ME1 is utterly disappointing.

I would hope so, but I kinda doubt it

The PS3 ME2 disc already has a lot of DLC on it. It would look pretty bad if they reprinted it just to take that off of the disc and upload it to the store.

ME1 + ME2 are great in their own ways. ME3 was a total letdown when stuff like killing the rakni queen is just overwritten.

I agree. If you pay $60 for ME3 on WiiU I feel sorry for you.

Highly doubt it will. I still would like to play the dlc for mass effect. To date I still think that's the best same out of all three. ME2 was awesome but ME1 is just such a better story and experience.

As someone who played ME2 first, the series is so much more enjoyable when you start from the beginning. There's no shame in spending a few hours creating your Shepard as they'll be with you for 80+ hours.

Wait, "N7 Day" is NOT November 7th? I really like Mass Effect, but I don't know, it sounds too weirdly corporate and off-putting. Hopefully the events don't disappoint.

I did love the hell out of ME2 when I picked it up for the PS3, so I'll probably pick this up. It'll be cool to finally be able to check out the original game. Here's hoping it comes with the DLC, though, because it'll be a bummer if it doesn't.

I had Mass Effect 1 for my old 360, but it RRoD'd when i was about 20 hours in, and i haven't touched a Mass Effect game since. This is right up my alley as i've been umming and ahhing about getting ME2 for my PS3 for quite a while. Glad i held off.

Probably because a PS3 version of the first game has never existed before and they need to do the work porting it?

It would be awesome if the Port of the first game was remade with the ME3 engine. Of course, that could be the only option for them.

I'll be buying this whether it has any of the DLC included or not. There's enough game here that I won't miss it.

And yet no announcement for Wii U, a console that is randomly getting the 3rd entry to the series with zero context. Or because in Microsoft and Bioware's original contract they had a 5 year publishing deal? In any other generation we would have had new consoles by now, considering ME1 came out in 2007

That's great! Regardless of all the hoopla about ME2, ME1 is the title I enjoyed playing the most. Everything just clicked with me more in the first game (the story in ME2 was pretty solid though).

I have had all games since their original launch dates, but I'm tempted to pick them up again in that nice packaging for the trilogy release. If they had a different/new set of achievements much like Batman AA and Batman AA GOTY, I would be all over that: another reason to play through the trilogy fresh.

I probably won't pick them up again, but it looks good. I really wish it had all the DLC for 1 and 2 (understandably why it doesn't have the DLC for 3), but what can you do. At least 2 might have the Cerberus Network codes?

I'm hoping that "N7 Day" is also the release of the ME3 Omega DLC.

Batman AA and it's GOTY had different achievements because they had different engines (the GOTY suddenly supporting 3D). I have a magical SSS-Rank in Batman Arkham Asylum.

Great, now I suddenly want ME3D edition...
