In some of the first news to come out of the Tokyo Game Show, Microsoft has laid out a bit of info about some upcoming Xbox Live Arcade releases. The biggest piece is a release date for the South Park game.

OK, fine, I'll use its full title. South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! will be released on October 7 and will run 800 points. I am way into the name of the game, but I'm sure you have already pieced together that my long-standing stance on tower defense negates any goodwill the faux-Japan name has generated.

But let's not get all negative just because I hate playing tower defense games! There's also new information on a few other XBLA releases, some of which confirms games that hadn't been announced yet, some of which provides a bit more detail on known titles. Here's the company line on five more games, straight out of Microsoft's press release.

“Toy Soldiers” (Signal Studios / Microsoft): Put your foot soldiers, snipers, cavalry and fighter pilots to the test. Poised to be a smash hit on Xbox LIVE Arcade, “Toy Soldiers” is a an action-packed strategy-based game in which players are cast into a fantastic, miniature world where antique toy soldiers fight for survival using an extensive arsenal of tanks, fighter planes and flame throwers in vintage WWI dioramas. Developed by Signal Studios exclusively for Xbox 360, now you can commandeer the action and watch as your assembled troops defend the area battlefield before the enemy storms over the top! Integrating multiple game genres and world-class visuals, “Toy Soldiers” is a unique and action-packed entertainment experience!

“Snoopy Flying Ace”  (Smart Bomb Interactive / Microsoft): Join the beloved pooch, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang in this fun, action-packed aerial combat game. Choose from one of 16 unique and customizable airplanes, including the Red Baron’s Fokker triplane and deck it out from the arsenal of 15 ingenious weapons that suit your strategy for your battle. Even better, your Avatar can climb into the cockpit to take on your friends in a dog eat dog battle. Remember, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight… but the size of the fight in the dog!

“0 Day Attack on Earth” (Square Enid): Earth is under attack by massive creatures from outer space. Now you can save Earth with a huge arsenal of heavy-power artillery at your disposal. Climb into your fighter jet and wage fierce battles against these gruesome aggressors. “0 Day Attack on Earth” is an Xbox LIVE Arcade exclusive that gives you full range of motion and attack while you engage in airstrikes over real world cities such as Tokyo, New York and Paris. Team up with or battle against players from around the world in online co-op. Only you can save Earth from complete annihilation!

Bomberman Live Battlefest” (Hudson): The Bomberman battle mode you know and love is returning to Xbox LIVE Arcade in the form of “Bomberman Live: Battlefest!” Blast friends in your living room or jump online and compete against up to 8 people worldwide! You no longer have to bomb solo, because now there are teams, along with a megaton of new content!

“RayStorm HD” (Taito):  The classic shooting game “RayStorm” returns with newly-updated graphics, and the original gameplay. Now you can control R-GRAY a fighter plane equipped with a lock-on laser system and battle your way through eight adrenaline filled stages. Available now with a variety of game modes, including Arcade Mode and Extra Mode, and four selectable planes!

I like the confidence in that Toy Soldiers bit. It's "poised to be a smash hit." That can only mean that they've secured Martika's smash hit song, Toy Soldiers, for the game. Here's that. Enjoy that.

Yea yea yea...
Give me Trine on PSN already.

Posted by Meltbrain

Sweet, I do hope that South Park game turns out at least decent. That would be a real treat.

Posted by FunExplosions

South Park has 2 seasons left. Everybody start crying.

Posted by nukesniper

more bomberman?

I still never bought the last one, and I appreciate the fact that XBLA games aren't afraid to have 4 players present on one screen like a lot of other games are afraid of nowadays

? hmm

I hate tower defense games. Just port over the old South Park game from the N64.

Posted by Obienator

What? No Perfect Dark? :(

Posted by nrain

I don't mind the Eminem version either.

Oh I forgot about that one. Eventually South park will have a game in every genre...
Whether they are good or not.

Meh... I was hoping for Comic Jumper to be on that list

The games sound promising... even toy soldiers.

Though i wont probably get any.

I'm surprised they didn't say anything about Trine coming to the Arcade. Game Informer confirmed it in the newest issue. Those other games sound cool, especially the Snoopy dog fight with the avatar integration. Just waiting for Perfect Dark.

You know what these XBLA game descriptions lack?? Daddy, Mommy, Billy and Sarah.

Square Enid?

Posted by Brackynews

They thought a new IP would sell better than a new Army Men game?  Good Luck With That.
Can't wait to see how it's unique.

I knew that that Toy Soldier's song reference had to come from Jeff.  I looked up to see who posted, just in case, but I just knew.

What the hell, Jeff? Where'd you dig up that fossil? You are terrible.

Posted by OmegaPirate

Fucking love that song xD

Posted by Druminator

haven't heard that song in ages lol. more than likely south park will be the only one of these i will play.

Posted by WinterSnowblind

I want Snoopy.

I'm not a huge fan of South Park, or Tower Defence games, but the South Park game actually looks pretty fun.  They seem to have focused it a lot more on the action rather than the typical strategy elements.  But again, I'm mainly waiting for Comic Jumper (which I assume is quite a bit off) and Perfect Dark, which we know is coming this year..  sometime.  I thought they'd be hyping that as much as possible, it's as close as we're ever going to get to Goldeneye, and arguably, the better game.

And that's a great song from the end of the 80's.

i prefer the eminem colab

Uhmm. I'm sure you guys know everything, but you should check South Park's website and read a little. 2 seasons left on their contract. Keep in mind that one "season" of South Park is usually 2 mini-seasons spaced throughout the year.
And you never know, they might extend the contract... I'm sure they could get paid near-Dave Chappelle money if they wanted.

Where is Serious Sam HD? Come on Microsoft, don't you like money?

im thinking this could be an addition as well.

Meh... I might get South Park LGDPABXYZ and Bomberman Battlefest if there is a sizeable community to play with.
