Microsoft Streaming E3 Press Conference Via XBL

At least you don't have to log into Home?

No Caption Provided

The best way to experience Los Angeles is to never, ever go to Los Angeles, which is why it’s nice that Microsoft will be giving you a convenient way to avoid that by streaming its E3 press conference through Xbox Live this year.

Microsoft’s press conference takes place on Monday, June 4, and should kick off around 10:00 a.m. PST.

We’ll be there. Probably. I guess.

Microsoft isn’t the first company to offer alternate ways to watch its E3 press conference. Last year, Sony held a live stream of its press conference through Home. I’m not sure if that’s better or worse than Los Angeles.

I like MS E3 Pressers. Can't wait to see the reveal of Peter Moore's new tattoo and the return of Velocity Girl.

Mister Klepek, I like your writing, but this one had a taint of jadedness to it with regards to what seems to be the hassle of e3. I feel that this attitude is endemic to most of the gaming press as of late and it saddens me.

~Just venting a bit

Regardless of your interest in being there, you miss 80% of the news and info coming out of E3 purely by being there in the thick of the madness, rather than observing it all from a distance in a distilled format like you will at home.

Indeed. That thing is exhausting even when you only have 1 or 2 appointments. I can't imagine what it's like to have a solid week of appointments in that mess. I've only been twice with minimal appointments but I don't think I ever come out seeing even 70% of the stuff there. Would get home and get mad I missed so much.

Oh, come on guys. Los Angeles isn't that bad. Sure, the traffic is terrible and there are some areas you don't want to get lost in but there is also a lot of fun to be had there.

E3 was f'ing insane the years I went. I can't imagine trying to get any work done there. Good luck Giant Bomb crew!

I know it's different for you, Patrick, but it's kind of funny that you guys dread going to E3 and I would straight up kill a man for a chance to go.

Why is it that all journalists are cynical towards going to a press show? I have been to a couple myself, and had a blast doing so. Is it just the normal, "I don't do this for fun anymore," kind of mentality you see after someone being at their job for a year plus?

I don't want to start a debate, but I think much of your audience, including myself, would love to be "in the thick of the madness" at e3 and it's a lot of the draw to much of your guys' awesome e3 coverage. It's just a little disheartening to see the few off hand complaints that seem to have been increasing in frequency in recent years.

Sure, why not? Though I'm more concerned about whether or not this year's press conference will be as bad as last year's.

There's nothing positive to say about LA for the most part, other than most of the time its at least 80 miles away from me.

But I've got to let you in on a little secret:

I HATE San Francisco too.

Yeah, its weird. People say LA has all the douche bags, but those people are usually typical, pretentious Northern Californians.

Was that dig at Sony really necessary? In any case this is cool.

It's hardly a dig at Sony as it is a dig at Home being a useless piece of shit. Which it is.

Sure. I just don't see how it relates to the story about Microsoft providing coverage for E3. You could say the same about Nintendo and how they provide no coverage for E3 on the Wii. Just seems odd to me is all.

@crusader8463: Exactly, Patrick's tagline about Home is a bit misleading if you take it literally. Streaming over Home was cool for those whom use it but you didn't have to. I haven't even downloaded it since I switched to a Slim PS3 18 months ago.

Have you never seen any of Nintendo's press conferences? Those are always good. And I expect big things for their Wii U launch. Microsoft's ones however are indeed boring and corporate (and occasionally creepy, like that Kinectimals thing from last year)

This should have been done for the last several years. And on top of that, EVERY trailer at E3 should be released online on XBL and PSN immediately upon their reveals as well. It makes no sense to limit your game's exposure in any way, shape or form.

Yeah. Sure.

Wii-U. Some 3DS garbage.

A bunch of Vita garbage. Maybe a PS3 game or two. Spun sales figures.

I'm going to watch all of them anyway.

No they are not "always good." I haven't seen a good Nintendo one in years and the only memorable stuff in recent years were debacles like Wii Music or the "always / sometimes / NEVER" nonsense.

I know why you posted this, but I figured I'd help clarify what he probably meant "No, there is no new console announcement. No, there aren't any new game announcements for the core audience"

Also, I'm fairly sure he didn't meant "some halo 4 garbage, and some kinect garbage." I'm 99% sure he just wrote that because of the general distaste for kinect stuff.

@laserbolts: I expect balancing issues galore.

However, I've practically given up on xbox live, and since I can't get my Halo fix anywhere else, Halo 4 isn't really on my radar. (after 6 console failures in ~4 years*, I'm so god damn jaded and sick of xbox live fees and the like...)

*I've owned a 360 since 2006, but my last failure was actually in 2010, I stopped playing xbox for the most part in 2011. Not that anyone cares, but I figure I should clarify.

After 6 console failures I would have given up on xbox myself. That seems like plenty of reason to not bother with xbox live anymore. I have gone through 4 now and the only reason I still primarily use xbox is because my real life friends use it. Just making sure that people understand that my comment wasn't against microsoft. Although I will say that they better get their shit together for the next generation because it is pretty ridiculous the amount of hardware issues people have had. Maybe it is time to invest in a good pc.
