Cool! "Ole Saint Nicholas" is bringing me a 3DS soon. Glad they're adding this. I'm assuming you can draw with the 3DS stylus?

OH SWEET I've been waiting for this. I get to make a Nintendo Network ID too? I'm getting a Wii U for Christmas, so I should be able to access it there later, right?

So weird. Just bought my 3DS yesterday and had a TERRIBLE time with everything down for maintenance before the update hit.

I just finished singing up for this, but there are only like 10 game communities. They are all games that I don't own, so I guess I don't really get the point of the Miiverse if it's only for super new games.

I hope they keep making these 2 devices work together even more. I would pay for a remote play app that lets me run 3ds games/virtual console titles on my wii u. That, or say use my 3ds xl as a wii u controller.

In the near future they will probably add a Majora's Mask emote icon.

I'm glad it's gonna be on a more active console now. I think I may be receiving a 3DS with Pokemon Y this Christmas.

Any recommendations on games? Less obvious ones anyways. Already looking at the Mario games and Luigis mansion.

I certainly hope they've fixed that by now, if you remember the Wii U launch stream Brad and Patrick created accounts on the same machine, and then it turned out Brad couldn't log in with the same account on another Wii U, since it had been tied to the first. I really hope they aren't still doing this, having people create a new account for the 3DS instead of using the same for both their Wii U and 3DS.

The obvious games are the best games. I really, REALLY loved that new Zelda game. Mario 3D Land is great, and Animal Crossing is the game I've poured the most time into. Beyond that there are some niche titles that you'll have to decide on personally. I picked up Fire Emblem and see why it's great but haven't played it much. You might consider Etrian Odyssey IV, Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, Pushmo, or SteamWorld Dig.

Sad that not every game has a community as of right now. I wonder if they're going to change that, or if other publishers didn't care enough to allow that feature for their older titles.

It took them 8 years to finally have an online system without friend codes. 9 years to have a single user ID. It'll take them even longer to think of the tiny things companies have been getting right for ages. They're slow and arrogant.

I hope so, I only really buy older titles.

@minivan: They need to work out the conflict of the current 3DS friend system and NNIDs on the 3DS. Miiverse on 3DS recognizes Wii U friends.

Say what you will about Nintendo, but the Miiverse is maybe the most inviting community for gamers that I've ever seen.

So for it to come to 3DS is fantastic.

My 3DS being now my only official gateway into the Miiverse... I gotta say it ain't great. I suppose the Miiverse you access on the 3DS is just some form of the 3DS web browser that is on it, because it is slooooow. But I was now able to sign up for Nintendo ID, so I guess I could just check the actual web browser version since that's actually quick to load.

Also if those smartphone apps they announced for it to ever come out I'm sure they'd be a much better experience than the 3DS.

Just got a LOZ 3DS XL. Best console purchase I've made in 6 years.

They say they're going to be adding communities as they go, so we'll see.

Ninners missed the boat on Mii's I reckon. If done well your character should look like something out of the Mario universe or the like, instead if this poorly generated bubble figure? Even though they were unoriginal and kinda dorky I do think Xbox should have kept their avatars as well.

Anyways, are purchases still locked to the system they were bought on (unless you do a system transfer) or with NNID on 3DS is that now being moved to the account level?

I realize this is something that won't affect a LOT of people, but I was kind of surprised by it: if you have money in the 3DS eShop in multiple currencies, it will *delete all other money, nonrefundable* when you do the conversion, so make sure to spend any money outside your home country first.

(In my case, it's because I live in Canada, but my mom lives in the States, and buys me gift cards for holidays. So I had both Canada and US eShop money.)
