More Free Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood DLC Hitting In Jan.

Just when you thought they'd start charging, they pull you back in with free stuff.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's first bit of multi-platform DLC, "Animus Project Update 1.0," is available today for the price of zero dollars. Later in January, you'll be able to get this DLC's predictable follow-up, "Animus Project Update 2.0," for the very same price of nothing. Can't argue with that, right?

Just like previous DLC, Update 2.0 will add a new map and game mode. The map is called "Pienza Map," a "perfect free-running playground" according to creator Ubisoft. The fresh mode is a twist on Capture the Flag called "Chest Capture," which will feature two three-man teams capturing and defending chests.

Update 2.0 will also include a "new Templar Score feature" that Ubisoft says will "reward diligent work by Abstergo recruits." I don't what that means, but hey, whatever!

Oh, and In celebration of Update 1.0's release, Ubisoft has released a trailer of the content. Check it out just below if you need to see "Advanced Alliance Mode" in action before you risk losing no money at all by downloading it and giving it a spin on either the Xbox 360 or PS3

I can imagine, i just hit lvl 30 myself and it's already getting slower and slower.  I hear that you get more XP playing Manhunt but i don't like playing that mode unless i'm with a group of friends(coordination is key in Manhunt).

This isn't like Ubisoft to give stuff away to their loyal fans... I'm still waiting for the catch.

Actually "Chest Capture" mode is a mini game involving Caterina Sforza.

Posted by Cybexx

Hmm I wonder if chest capture actually has you carrying a chest, which would make hiding in a crowd pretty interesting.

I really enjoyed what I've played of AC:Brotherhood's multiplayer so far, I think I will continue to check in with the game now and then.

Posted by Milkman

I like the multiplayer in this game a lot. But I really wish that they would release some single player DLC, even if they charge for it.

Posted by Klei

Free DLC? Alright, but why? To keep the fanbase active? I've played like eight or nine rounds of MP matches until I switched back to SP. I guess it's not my cup of tea.

Posted by buft

great that its free, shit that the awesome single player is taking a backseat to this content.

Posted by Jungis

This is a great strategy by Ubisoft for the AC: Brotherhood multiplayer.  I think that the real trick with this game will be to keep the online alive and new people playing.  Even though the multi is great and I've been playing it a shit-ton it is definitely niche and an unusual style to most online gamers.

Get more of them playing Ubisoft so I don't have to wait forever to start up an advanced-wanted game late at night!

I still haven't gotten into the MP yet.  I will never S-Rank this game.  :(

Damn you, multiplayer achievements!

@Milkman: well if you got it for -s3 there's the copernico pack which is new single player missions.
Posted by BBQBram

Good on them for offering it for free, but this mp isn't that compelling to me - I'm still finding flags in sp anyway.

Posted by andrewf87462

I've had the game two weeks and i've only just tried the multiplayer now. Can't say it's anything amazing, infact I'm finding it a little boring at times, but you can't complain with these DLC packs that are coming out, free stuff FTW!!!! Only really bought Ass Bro because of the awesome single player.

Looking forward to some interesting DLC at the best possible price. What I want even more is a fix for the crappy netcode (PS3 in Europe). I've had no problem finding games, but most games never start. It seems like they don't have any kind of timeout built in, so when one person has a problem entering or leaving a lobby, the whole game gets screwed up for everyone.

When I do get into an actual working game, it's amazing. Even idiots who sprint all over the place can no longer ruin the game for me now that I have some abilities to deal with them.

Posted by UncleBenny

I know it's an asshole demand, but I just want more single player DLC, I don't know, hell, I may even pay for it.
Posted by MisterMouse

this game seems to be a great price for the content you get!

@crusader8463:  It seems they are doing what EA is doing, to keep us happy and loyal.
Posted by BeautifulSpaceCowboy

I always like to see a company supporting their game, especially with free DLC.

Posted by Archer88

The new mode sounds more like control point domination than capture the flag.

Posted by harrymcback

So what's up with Microsoft letting Ubisoft give out free DLC but the stopped Valve from putting out free DLC for Left 4 Dead?

Posted by Lazyaza

Bah more multiplayer dlc, I want sp stuff damn it Ubisoft.

Posted by Capum15

Wow, free? Neato. Haven't even touched the MP, but still cool.

Same, same...argh!
Posted by fillmoejoe

I'm only level 5...

Posted by ThePantheon

The MP is great, but I actually give a shit about the single player mode a LOT. Where's more SP?

Posted by Dany

I dunno if I want to pick this up again, i reached level 10 but yeah, no story kinda kills it for me

Posted by Angie_981
@Dany:
yeah I'm with you there...
Posted by ComradeKhan

Woah we actually are gonna get a new mode, not just "Advanced Manhunt" or something that was already in the game to begin with... sounds cool.

Posted by AgentSmith
@Dany: No story? play the single player man. the game isn't just the multiplayer
Posted by Downsize

I like how they entice people who havent hit level 50,  like myself I have, with the lvl 50 elite gear on the skins in the trailer.  lvl 50 elite gear is fucking sweet looking

@crusader8463:

The catch is...   matchmaking in this game SUCKS!!!

I'd rather they take the time to fix the damn matchmaking (as opposed to giving me free DLC that takes a half hour to join).  It's a nice gesture though.

Are we playing the same game? How is there no story? I mean, even the multiplayer has an explanation for why it exists.
