Mortal Kombat Webisode Thing Dated for Blu-ray

Why watch it free on the web when you pay $19.98 for a disc?!

No Caption Provided

We can all pretty much agree the Mortal Kombat reboot viral video was great, and through I had every intention of watching the Mortal Kombat: Legacy webisodes that followed, somethingsomethingsomething.

I just never did.

Maybe that'll change, with news from High-Def Digest revealing the web series is coming to Blu-ray on November 8 for $19.98. It seems like a halfway decent way to spend an evening with some beers.

Presumably, there will be a DVD version, too, but it's not mentioned in the original report.

The disc will come packed with a bunch of supplemental features about the Mortal Kombat universe, including behind-the-scenes on the filming of Mortal Kombat: Legacy and the history of the series.

Oh, and it should go without saying, but haters gonna hate--original Mortal Kombat movie is rad.

I'd rather watch this on disc than on the web to be honest. I'll probably pick it up...but I'm waiting for a DVD release. F*** Blu-Ray. More expensive for a miniscule difference in resolution? Stupid. Videophiles are crazy. It's not like DVD's look like sh** or anything, they just care about knowing that the picture is sharper. Nevermind the fact that most people don't have perfect vision anyway, and tons of people wear glasses and contacts. You shouldn't care about resolution enough just to pay more money for a disc.

Bring it to DVD, and I'll buy it Warner Bros. Simple as that.

The series has been pretty hit and miss for me, some episodes were really good, but some were complete rubbish. The trailer is still the best thing about it.

Am I the only one that is glad they did not go with the ''reimagineing'' idea in the reboot trailer?  The kreator originally wanted to turn Baraka into a human plastic surgeon and Reptile into some crazy human guy.

Anybody remember Jean Claude's Street Fighter?  Where Balrog and Honda were reporters and Dahlsim was a Shadoloo scientist?  If you liked that garbage then I can see why you would want MK's rich mythology to be replaced.  I don't like when they change stories so dramatically and would have hated to see Sub Zero be like an Ice-cream salesman trows scoops of ice-cream at his foes.

Mortal Kombat gets labeled as a cheesy-story fighting game when in reality it has one of the fullest developed character plots in all genres of games.  The Rivalries of The Shokans and Centaurs,  The tireless loyalty of the tarkatans to Shao Khann; also, the relationship amongst the White Lotus Monks, the Lin kuei, the Black Dragon on Earth Realm.

I could go on but my point is made.  And, again, remember the Street Fighter movie.  That's what you get when you change the story.

I bet your display resolution is 1024x768. And you're probably crazy.

Only good episodes were Johnny Cage and Scorpion & Sub-zero

Johnny Cage? Yes. Scorpion/Sub-Zero? Ehhhh. Wasn't exactly very exciting. The Raiden episode was effing fantastic though. So unbelievably dark.

Am I the only one who didn't really care for the original "Rebirth" trailer? It was very well-produced, but I guess I just wasn't interested in a "realistic" take on MK. MK is too out there. For example: If you turn Baraka into just some guy who went crazy and put blades on his hands, well, that's not Baraka... I was relieved that Legacy stuck to the mythology, however the few episodes I saw just weren't all that great as far as production values and acting go.

Way better and more creative than the dumbass Lord of the Rings orc-reject Baraka they made for this though.

Seeing as you can watch it on the net for free see no point in picking it up.

Are the uncensored versions up? Cause I remember the show was apparently "censored" and Machinima kept hyping the uncensored versions and how cool watching Kabal lose his eye was going to be.
Also I bet 100000000 brad bucks that those videos will disappear from Youtube when this releases

Well, watching in high-definition would be cool too.  That and watching in the living room if you're not a tech-junkie with your whole house wired up Bill Gates style.  I'll say this, however - it's GREAT that WB is getting behind MK the way they are.  I hope they're rewarded for it.

Loved the original MK movie!! Saw that shit in theaters! It rocked at the time, even though the effects seems super fucking dated now.

I enjoyed the MK Legacy stuff on youtube, but only wish it was alot longer. If the MK ip wasn't so fucked for movie making I'd love to see the MK Legacy people make a real movie. I'd see it for sure, if it came to my small town cinema.

The Sub-Zero and Scorpion episode had nothing to do with Sub-Zero. Just Scorpion. I kept waiting and waiting for something about Sub-Zero's origin or past but NOPE. To say the least...it upset me greatly.

I heard the webisodes weren't as great as the reboot video.
