New 50 Cent Trailer Confirms New Publisher, Confirms Total Off-The-Chainness

OK, fine. I'll admit it. I find 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand to be a compelling idea and am quite interested in playing it for myself. There. Done.

If there's one thing that 50 Cent is good at, it's getting skull. And if there's one thing that THQ is good at, it's keeping it gangster. So it's obvious that there's no better fit for 50 Cent's desert-based skull hunt than THQ.

The company, which has officially picked up the rights to release Swordfish's third-person shooter when Activision cast it aside after picking up Vivendi and its whole lineup, released this new trailer. Take a look.

You know, it's easy to roll your eyes at the very notion of a 50 Cent game, especially when you consider how the last one turned out. But that trailer and the game's premise seem delightfully silly. Plus, 50 Cent makes a better, weirder protagonist in this sort of desert setting than Gung-Ho Military Type Who Doesn't Take No Crap #17 would be.

While I'm absolutely, positively tired of 50 Cent's endless, desperate attempts at self-hype and his petty attempts at starting beef to keep his name in the headlines, Virtual 50 is still something I'd be very interested in checking out... even if the dialogue delivery in this trailer is completely awful. Actually... that probably makes it better.

Look for the game in stores this January.
