Yeah, grabbed it already. Killer deal. This is how you do DLC. Release a sequel on a franchise with the usual amount of content and then add a ton of extra cool stuff for less than what COD charges for a useless map pack. So good.

I'm already in... that orange Shy Guy that just kicked your ass online. That was me. $12 for an orange Shy Guy? Worth every penny. Now I wonder how much this DLC will cost?

Surprising just about no one, Nintendo has announced downloadable content for Mario Kart 8.

Uh, it's Nintendo. The only other DLC they've practically done was the completely unintegrated Super Luigi U content and some may-have-been-on-disc-for-all-we-know Mercedes Benz DLC for Mario Kart. This is a huge step for Nintendo quite frankly. Also, the DLC packs are $7 a piece (US) or $12 for both.

For $12 you get:

6 Characters
8 New vehicles
16 Courses
8 New colors for Yoshi and Shy Guy

That's a hell of a deal.

They're going to jump on the Steam Machines and develop new peripherals/games on that platform.

Nintendo sticks F-Zero cars in Mario Kart while steadfastly refusing to develop a new F-Zero game.

That's not nearly as bad as the Mario Golf DLC. Pretty fair price actually for 16 additional tracks.

You can pre-order the packs now on the eshop. $8 each or $12 in a bundle. Grabbing both gets you the Shy Guy and Yoshi colors now.

I don't like this (more tracks are fine, I suppose), but Link? On mario kart? it's like Nintendo is turning into a big hip hop album of everything featuring everything else.

Just get it over with and make all the Nintendo games a single universe that launches from the MII plaza.

NoA confirmed the DLC and is pricing it at $8 each or $12 for both. That is surprisingly low. I expected something around 20$ since most season passes cost that much.

So it's £11 for 16 courses and a bunch of vehicles and characters? That seems like a shockingly reasonable price. Could easily see them charging £20 for it.

That's pretty grand. I was hoping they'd announce DLC. Hope they go back and retool the battle mode at some point too. And weren't they going to put in Diddy Kong at one point?

A part of me would totally pay $60+ for them to just make new versions of every single course in the previous seven Mario Kart games and make this just the ultimate Mario Kart experience period. But that's crazy.

They're $7.99 separately.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed in one of the collage from the DLC packs, but there is also a picture of a Mute City inspired course. Looks like Mute City will be a playable track in Mario Kart! Now I'm looking forward to that track's song since the MK8 soundtrack is pretty dope!

There's a mistake in the article, Nintendo has included characters from non Mario games before, namely Funky Kong as well as most every DK franchise cameo character. Oh, also the Mii.

I don't even have a Wii U but I wonder if the new courses will be all new courses or a mix of classic courses.

I'm all for more nintendo characters in the Mario Kart games.

Pricing seems reasonable, new tracks are definitely what the game needs most right now. I assume there is going to be a 50-50 split between new track designs and re-imagined tracks again.
