Microsoft sent some information and media out today showing off the Japanese tracks and fine automobiles that will be available in Forza 3 this October. I'm the last guy you'd want to speak authoritatively about racing games of any stripe, so I'm just going to let them do the talking for me. I'll give you one hot image first, though.
OK, tracks!
Suzuka Circuit: Put your skills to the test on one of the oldest, most famous and dangerous motorsport race tracks in Japan. One of the big dogs of Japanese tracks, the 3.608-mile course requires cat-like reflexes as its 17 turns, highlighted by the quick transitions of the “S” complex, the Turn 11 hairpin, and the tricky Casio Triangle will keep drivers on their A-Game. But don’t fear the throttle, as there are numerous high-speed sections that demand a total commitment from your weighted leadfoot.
Twin Ring Motegi: Motegi is where the Japanese get their groove on, NASCAR-style. The venue, built by Honda in 1997, is home to a 1.549-mile oval and a 2.98-mile road course. It has held a NASCAR exhibition race in 1998, was part of the CART circuit from 1998 to 2002 and then it went to host the IRL in 2003. In 2008 Danica Patrick made headlines, becoming the first woman to win an Indy Car race at the Indy Japan 300, the only event currently held on the egg-shaped oval. The Motegi road course doesn’t have the elevation changes of some of the other Japanese circuits but features an intoxicating blend of tight corners and high-speed sweepers. Motegi is the last race on the Super GT schedule so this track is a mix of handling and speed that will take a balanced vehicle and skilled driver to get around cleanly.
Tsukuba Circuit: Home of the famous Revspeed Super Battle, the original time attack that hit the Japanese tuning scene in 1990, and D1 Grand Prix drifting events, Tsukuba hums to an underground soundtrack where other Japanese venues feature a much more mainstream beat. Consequently, Tsukuba rewards agility over brute power so gamers who can hit their apexes and keep the momentum rolling should do well on this track. If you drift, welcome to heaven.
Please allow me to rattle off some of the fancy-sounding racing machines that are included in Forza 3 before I show you the screenshots. The Subaru Impreza WRX STi. The Lexus IS F. The Nissan 370Z. The Yaris S. Wait. I know enough to know that one of those does not belong.

I can only think that its because Turn 10 is programming for the simple IBM chip in the 360, but the Polyphony guys have to reverse engineer that damned cell chip and it's multiple organic quasi reverse-vector time machine cores. "
Time machine! Lawls! Although there is a boat load of truth there. I remember reading an article about developing for both. I believe it was an Ubisoft team, too. They said, "Developing for the Xbox 360 was like developing for a basic computer, while developing for PS3 was ass hard." That's a direct quote, of course.
If GT5 races like the past GT games, I won't be too happy with it. They still aren't sure about car damge?! Come on! It's the year two thousand, for Christ sake, and nine!

Your last sentence is the truth. There's no way I could be turned off of this game. Also I agree that GT seems like more of a "car porn" type of deal. They just give you a crap load of amazing looking cars and say have fun. While Forza--at least in my opinion--has a better feel to the racing with their tire physics and everything going on under the hood. I'm glad to hear that Turn 10 is making even more progress with advanced tire physics for Forza 3. Most people don't realize it but tire physics may be the single most important factor in making a driving game really feel right. The more in-depth they can go with that, the better and more realistic the game will feel.

well when Turn 10 decides to implement both NASCAR and WRC to its game, maybe development will take longer.

What the hell is Polyphony doing that makes their graphics, especially in screen shots, look so damn realistic. None of these shots as good as Prologue and especially what was shown in the GT5 trailer.
I was just saying that I think it would be awesome to race a Honda Fit. Would be cool to race it in the SCCA or something where you are racing in a class with other similar cheap ass cars. Cheap to buy and maintain... road racing in America needs a comeback.

European supercars dominate A class, S-class AND when you add all the race upgrades, they dominate U-class. Japanese "toys that whine like bitches" happen to dominate all the lower classes, and if you like 4 wheel drive easiness they can make good A and S-class too.
Weren't all three of those tracks they just announced also in Forza 2? (Motegi was DLC). I hope they're adding a lot of new ones to go with all the old ones.
this game looks wicked. i feel excited about this the same way i was excited about forza 2.. unfortunately i always get pumped up and buy the game, play it, and get bored as i sink more and more time into it.. i always loved Gran Turismo's system.. but something felt different about the forza series that got me bored in some way.. can't describe what it is, but hell, i'll just buy forza 3 and hope it doesn't happen again cuz these screen shots look awesome.

The screen shots look really good. However, are they gameplay photos or from the video editor? Because, Forza 2 video editor rendered the game better than the actual gameplay renderer.
I really hope there isn't an achievement to own all of the cars again like there was in Forza 2. Getting that was a PAIN I can't imagine what it would be like with the addition of so many more vehicles Also, great to see the Evo looking good but I think Turn 10 went a little too far with including some vehicles in Forza 3. The Yaris and Fit above look absolutely ridiculous in a racing game. But, it will only get worse with American trucks and suvs oh well I hope the damage is devastating on those since they are only good for crashing.
I love Suzuka .... glad to see its in the game. Little disappointed that Fuji didn't make it in .... maybe there are more track announcements to come later.
