Payne Train Pulls Into Xbox Live

Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne available now as Xbox Originals.

With Max Payne 3 just around the corner, what better time than now to revisit or get acquainted with the hard-boiled, flat-footed melodramatics of New York's most tragic two-fisted cop? Today Microsoft has made both Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne available for download on the Xbox 360 as Xbox Originals. It could be argued that the comic-book-noir trappings of the series were corny, that the first game dragged on and the second one ended abruptly, but I'll be damned if there are any other games that make shooting two guns while jumping through the air in slo-mo as thoroughly satisfying. The Xbox wasn't the definitive platform for the Max Payne series, but, if my memory serves, it survived the porting process rather well. Both games can be purchased through Xbox Live for the standard Xbox Originals price of $15 a pop.

I got the PC version of Max Payne 2 several years ago for just $8 (and it wasn't even that old back then).  Not saying the PC version is better (haven't played on XBox), but it's crazy they're charging that much for these in 2009.
