Platinum Announces 360/PS3 MadWorld Follow-Up 'Max Anarchy'

Because every protagonist with a chainsaw for an arm deserves a second shot, I’m stoked to share this bit of news with you: Platinum Games has revealed a new action-oriented, online-centric game featuring Jack of Madworld fame. It's called Max Anarchy and, unfortunately, further details are super sketchy at the moment.

Here's what we've got. In an interview with Famitsu magazine (translated via Andriasang), Platinum's Atsushi Inaba brands Max Anarchy as a "massively multiplayer melee fighting action" game. He doesn't dive into specifics, but he does confirm the assumption based on that branding that Max Anarchy will support a large number of players tasked with beating each other up in a free-for-all scenario.

so did they say who's publishing? I know sega signed platinum up for another game, is this that game?

Don't want to get my hopes up too high for this, but definitely color me interested.

cool.... i really didn't like madworld but hey ill give it a shot when it comes out

MadWorld had alot of great style but everything else was severely lacking.

Can't wait, multiplayer might have been cool for the original but it was split-screen only so I didn't play it ore than once.

If Jack is just making an appearance and the game "doesn't revolve around him", isn't it kinda disingenuous to call this a MadWorld follow-up? I feel like that implies more connection than there is.

Awesome, bit worried about anything that has the words "massively multiplayer" associated with it, but then again, I know nothing about this yet. Hoping for gameplay or more info soon.

It has potential, I really like the concept of Madworld, that game was just kinda boring.

Well, considering these are the former Clover Studio guys and after Bayonetta and Vanquish, I'll buy anything with Platinum Games written on it.

Platinum's only made one game I didn't like (and at least three that I've REALLY liked), so I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt.

Psyched, actually. I might wanna go play Madworld sooner or later, though.

No brainer decision, put a mature themed game on the consoles with the most mature user base!

Platinum is money, I'll have to keep an eye on this game.

A Japanese developed 3rd person fighting game with a focus on online? That combination is far from appealing.

MadWorld was kind of stupid to be honest, not very excited about this at all.

This isn't a MadWorld follow-up at all, and putting a MW screenshot in the article doesn't help.

Ok I was excited for this, as I couldn't really get into the Wii version that much because of the controls, until I saw

So in other words it's going to be a multiplayer focused arena beat em up (please stop using the terms "massively multiplayer" for this kind of thing as well). While mildly amusing, I have a feeling it's going to be pretty shallow if that's what their goal is with it.

I glad Platinum games is giving Jack another try, but I'm not sure about a online multiplayer centered game.  Hopefully the offline campaign will still be able to stand by itself.

So... It's an MMO... With a Singleplayer campaign.... and a coop campaign... .And it's... a 3D brawler...? whut?

Well this is kinda unexpected but I enjoyed Mad World. Something tells me I wont buy it now tho caz its on the 360/PS3.

I don't know how this game was ever put first
on the fucking Wii.  There better be a single-player
campaign, otherwise I don't see the point of yet
another online multiplayer shooter.  Mindless run
& gun just doesn't entertain that well anymore.
