Resident Evil 5 Headed To The PC Later This Year

Capcom's zombie-romp is now official for the PC and will support 3D-specs.

In a press release this morning Capcom officially announced Resident Evil 5 is coming to the PC later this year. Also, Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando are on track to hit the WIndows platform in July. Jeff's got a whole lot more info on the Street Fighter IV stuff in a previous story so I'd check there for information on the achievements and improvements made for that game. Here's a quote from the release detailing what Resident Evil 5 PC gamers have to look forward to:

The PC version of Resident Evil 5 will feature online play for co-operative play sessions over the internet and will also take advantage of NVIDIA®’s new GeForce® 3D Vision technology (wireless 3D Vision glasses sold separately).
Dude. 3D glasses? Sold. After doing a little research on the technology I found this ridiculous video experiment on YouTube which tries to mimic the effect by making you cross your eyes while looking at two very similar videos running at the same time. The video shows off a version of Crysis using NVIDIA's technology, not Resident Evil 5, but it might be interesting to see if you can actually train your eyes to make it work. I don't know about you, but all I saw was a sailboat.

DMC4 PC was pretty awesome, hopefully this will be just as good.
Incidentally, I'd like to point out now, before anyone screams shitty port incoming, that capcom develops pretty much all of its current gen shit native to the PC, and the console versions are the actual ports. That is all.

The PC version of DMC 4 was the superior one, in my opinion. I'm hoping that's the same for these games. Even though I have RE 5 and SF IV, I'm still going to try out the PC versions.

I figure that these games will have support for the 360 controller, but I hope RE5 has mouse support.

Nice, if this is a Windows LIVE title I'll likely double-dip for double the achievements. :)

Hopefully this supports a mouse, as it looks like the RE4 PC port did not (?!).

All that video did was make me feel sick. =/ I'd rather just play Crysis than watch two versions of it on a YouTube vid.

It looks like 3D is not for me.  I tried doing all types of these 3d online tests, but each one I failed miserably.  I did hear that if you could not see the 3d stuff, you could do practice exercises to train your eyes to see it, but it seems like too much work to train myself to get this extra feature.

As for RE5 on the PC, I may get it when it goes down in price, hopefully there will be some cool mods for it by then.

They can't possibly screw it up as bad as the RE4 port...right?

I feel really stupid crossing my eyes watching that YouTube video. I felt like I was being caught on video as a prank.

Thank you Capcom for still providing PC gamers with games to play. Now just don't screw up the ports :)

Crossing my eyes while watching that video did nothing for me. Everything just became blurry and I saw double of everything. I call bullshit.

Just a note for those that don't understand.  The Nvidia 3D system requires a special 120Hz LCD and special expensive shutter glasses, but you don't have to cross your eyes.  The games must also get double the framerate (because the framerate you see will be cut in half, one for each eye).

I haven't touched the game since I beat it, and uh, that means its at most a 3/5 game.

I can't cross my eyes. I'm so used to looking through glasses that sending my eyes in opposite directions is next to impossible.

Interesting, and that 3D stuff is freaking me out. I hope it actually works with the right equipment.

It will, some games already have it.
