Resident Evil: Revelations Coming to Almost Every Other Platform

If you missed out on Resident Evil: Revelations because it was a 3DS exclusive, Capcom’s taking that excuse off the table. Revelations is headed to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC on May 21.

You may or may not take issue, though, with Capcom charging $50 for this upgraded version of the game. It’ll arrive on a physical disc for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U, and also launch digitally day-one for PS3 and PC. Digital launches on both Xbox 360 and Wii U are promised at a later date.

This version comes with a few other additions, too. Hunk is now playable in Raid mode, which has one or two players fighting through single-player maps outfitted with new enemy layouts. Capcom has also added a new enemy type, more weapon customization options, and another difficulty mode.

And you know what? Resident Evil: Revelations was a better game than Resident Evil 6. There was more tension and atmosphere in Revelations’ primary ship location than anything I came across in the way-too-long RE6.

Oh Resident Evil... Please just figure it out..

I enjoyed my time with revelations on 3ds, this might be ok.

We'll finally be able to enjoy the booty in HD.

I hope this leads to new games in this style instead of just going in the direction that RE6 went.

The 3ds version was on my GOTY 2012 list. Glad to hear more people can play this now.

I'm looking forward to this! And PS: As a RE fan since 1999, I thoroughly enjoyed EVERY entry to this series including RE 6 and the First Person games!

Even through I have a 3DS, I rather get this on Steam or the 360 then buy that useless circle pad.

It was totally playable without it. Pretty similar to RE4 actually.

From what I understand the PC version is 10 bucks cheaper.

I only recently bought a 3DS and was looking forward to playing this. Now I'm concerned I'd be getting a bad version.

If it's possible for it be emulated at 1080p with that Dolphin emulator, surely it couldn't be that difficult to scale it up to 720 on consoles?

This would only be allowed on a Nintendo Platform due to the developer Flagship being a second party to Nintendo.

It could never be in widescreen though since the pre-rendered backgrounds mean that everything outside of the 4:3 border just doesn't exist.

After watching the quick look, this is the part I'm most concerned about.

@Rirse: I have a Circle Pad but played the game without it. It's totally fine with one analog stick. RE4-style.

Not "best" overall but they work perfectly fine for these games. I never had a problem with it. In fact, I love the games for that style (fixed camera).

Why hello there, game-I-will-completely-forget-about-until-it-goes-on-Steam-sale-4-months-from-now!

I hope the characters' mouths move when they talk in the HD versions...

I'm actually playing through this right now on the 3DS, it's a solid RE game, and works well even without the Circle Pad Pro. The raid mode co-op is pretty enjoyable too, just started digging into that. Not sure I would pay $50 for an HD version, but the $20 I spent on the 3DS one was well worth it.

If this 3DS port doesn't run at 60fps and doesn't have 3D option, BUST.

No Vita version. Capcom hates the thing. Oh, and the myth of Sony not supporting the Vita needs to fuck off.

The 3DS version is not a "bad version". It's the standard. The game was built for 3DS. At most, you'll be getting a "better" version on PC and consoles. But the 3DS version is not the "bad" version, as if it had been ported down from a major platform.

I was actually pretty interested in this, my only concern was not being able to control the game well on the 3DS. Now that this is coming to PC, I won't have to worry about that. Unfortunately,

charging $50

I don't want to pay any more than $20 for it unless those upgrades are some really good upgrades. Also, I remember Brad saying that this game would have been a whole lot scarier if it were on a big screen and, well, here's a big screen.

Maybe this will outsell RE6.

That "better on big screen" mentality is pretty weird. Having the screen right in your face with headphones on makes it at least just as scary as on the big TV.

Control wise it was fine, too. Plays basically like RE4.

The real issue here is that I don't think Capcom believes they can market any RE games that don't control/play like RE4 and onwards.

That's a given. Unless Resident Evil was to turn into some sort of niche, there's never going to be a new Resident Evil anything that resembles the older games.

Still, Revelations is supposedly the best of both worlds, mixing in some of the action/controls of RE5 (with the ability to move 'n shoot) but while retaining the exploration, ammo conservation and puzzle elements of the older games.

In any case while I haven't even played the thing, I'm willing to bet it's still a much better shooter and a much better horror game than RE6.

Fifty dollars sounds fair.

@DeF: I don't know about that. I would much rather play an atmospheric horror-ish game on a big screen with the lights off and all that jazz. Not laying back on the couch trying to comfortably fit my hands around a 3DS or something like that.

But to each his own. Also, even if this game doesn't get redone textures, it will at least be in a higher resolution so we can really make out that shiny Jill booty.

Sure, I'm in. Heard good things about it and after the trainwrecks that were RE6 and Operation Raccoon City (can't decide which is worst), I could use a decent Resident Evil game.
