MTV and Apple let us know that they're going to let us know something soon.
Is that DLC over there?I initially glanced right past a press release in my inbox stating the Apple and MTV were working together on an “Unprecedented Global Music Project,” assuming that meant all future Apple TVs would come preloaded with the video for Michael Jackson's Thriller or something equally stupid. Turns out, wrong Apple! No, this isn't the fancy computer people, it's Apple Corps Ltd., the company that manages all of The Beatles catalog. The same company that has prevented any of the Fab Four's music from showing up on that other Apple's iTunes service, which makes this a much, much more interesting story.
The press release is just a drumroll, though, a heads-up that MTV and Apple will be revealing the initial details of their partnership tomorrow at 7AM Pacific time. Of course, the obvious fruit of such a venture would be the appearance of The Beatles in Rock Band, though we've still got 16+ hours for some mad crazy speculation and debate. Go!
UPDATE:The Wall Street Journal is now claiming that "several people familiar with the matter" have confirmed the deal, though no further details are offered. Hopefully that doesn't just mean someone read the press release aloud to the WSJ writer.
Sounds cool, but cripes, with Aerosmith, ACDC, Metallica, and now potentially The Beatles being featured in music games, where's my Rock Band Presents The Who?
Medley off of Abbey Road could be insanely hard to play if they did it right. There isn't a song I wouldn't want to play on this before Sgt. Pepper's album. I can not wait for this. It will be a blast!
Rock band with The Beatles.... ..y ? I can't believe that would ever happen and if it does than I'm 4 sure I'm never gonna get Rock Band. Cause the songs are great to listen to but actually playing the songs seems kind of stupid. Just buy a turntable & any of the Beatles records if u truly love the Beatles.
I can't say that can see all of the Beatles catalog being practical for Rock Band because of the versatility of their sound. Having said that, if I'm able to play "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" or "Strawberry Fields Forever" I will be one satisfied customer.
I can't possibly imagine that a Rock Band / Beatles thing would be anything short of a full-on retail beatles-only rock band game, like the AC/DC game. If that's the only way AC/DC's whoever would agree to putting songs in rock band, I'm certain that's the only way the Apple would agree to release the Beatles tracks.
Let's be honest here: As much as we all want it to be DLC, that's highly unlikely to happen. If AC/DC had enough clout to force Harmonix to put them out on a disc, the Beatles surely will as well, especially since they're well known for charging rather pricey licensing fees. You know they could get the sales to justify it too.
I love the Beatles and would be happy to see them on either RB or GH. I thought it was going to be the latter for a while after a statement last year by Activision CEO which suggested they were looking to tie a deal, obviously that did not work out.
Dude, I'm all for having the Beatles' music available in Rock Band, provided it is DLC and not a stand-alone disc like the over-priced AC/DC abomination. My sissa and I are gonna eat this shit up--if it turns out to be true, that is...
I heard Guitar Hero was getting it from Q-Tips off of EGM. But if Rock Band gets it then I'm happy. I'd have to vote for them getting Revolution and Twist and Shout!
I listen to the Beatles a lot, but their songs aren't overly challenging. Other than a few songs like Here Comes the Sun, most are just chord patterns.
But they have a few good songs for games...
Dig a Pony, One After 909, I've Got a Feeling, Julia, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Helter Skelter, Birthday, Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey, Yer Blues...
Wow if they bring The Beatles to Rock Band I will have to buy it just because I like music. Seriously if you are at all a fan of music and video games and don't buy this(if it is released) you should just shoot yourself.
