Should just call it Batman: Gotham City. If Spiderman 2 could have the huge city then no reason a current gen game cant. Id like to have more random things for Batman to do like stopping muggings and what not instead of a handful of 'political prisoners'. Put Batman in Gotham and let people actually be Batman and respond to cries for help and the bat signal. Put the Batmobile in there only to get to and from the batcave. Have puzzles you have to solve by using the batcomputer to scan for dna and background checks and stuff. Drain your urine meter by using the battoilet....sky is the limit. But the next has to be a huge improvement and not just a larger area to glide through to get my money. They have being Batman down as far as combat goes but there is more to Batman then combat. Hes the worlds greatest detective and we havent really explored that yet.

Kinda hope that's a working title.

A prisoner jokes about this in the game you know. "Arkahm Asylum, Arkham City - what's next? Arkahm World?". Or something like that.

This is the kind of "news story" that IGN would write. Giant Bomb is better than that Klepek.

Well this is silly in many various ways.

Odd that people are running with this as a news story. Took it as an off-the-cuff joke myself. The conceit for Arkham City was stretched thin, I doubt they'd make the play area larger.

Patrick, I absolutely love you man but.... why would you post something that the likes of IGN or Kotaku would post?   Your better than that man!   

If this is true, no thanks. If it's not true...still don't care very much about the next Arkham game.

I do not think saying that Patrick gets it right 99% of the time counts as condemning the entire site. If you are to enraged to listen to what I am saying I suggest you take a step back and calm down. As I am a huge fan of both this site and Patrick but I do not believe that fact makes me incapable of providing a criticism. A criticism that was never meant as a personal attack. As such it is fine if you do not agree with my criticism but calm down and quite it with the personal insults and name calling. You are better than that.

Yeah, I guess there is nowhere for this discussion to go if you have no actual point or position to articulate and have nothing to say but fling insults.

Why not Batman: Gotham City?! All these merauders running loose in Batman's/Bruce Wayne's hometown. And the city's streets make a perfect excuse for a cool chase with the Batmobile.

To me, this just feels like a throwaway joke they did for the VGAs, but who knows!

Oh yeah! Further evidence that they were probably just goofin' re: the title. Either way, yeah, of course this game's coming eventually! I just don't see them calling it Arkham World.

While 'Arkham World' does sound silly, I could easily see it as at least being an internal working title until someone thinks of a better name (and seems very likely that there is some sort of a sequel in development on at least an extremely basic level considering how successful the last two were).

Although, this does bring up a bit of a naming issue since unless they go back to the asylum or something it will become increasingly harder to fit 'Arkham' into the title as the series goes on. On the other hand, it is this specific version of Batman and this specific series that people consider the 'good Batman games' so keeping Arkham in the name ensures people know which series the games belong to.

Personally, I think they should just move around Arkham to act as a sort of prefix, such as (similar to what metalgearstl suggested) "Arkham Batman: Gotham City".

I'll wait for Super Batman Galaxy.

They're jumping the gun a bit, they should stretch it out with Batman Arkham Greater Municipal Area first. We don't get to see enough of Suburban Batman action, jumping over backyard fences, hiding in swimming pools and using BBQ implements as weapons.

Yeah I'm thinking that's the only thing that makes sense of the Arkham City thing, as it doesn't exactly make a lot of sense even with their attempt to try to. At least it's what I thought when they announced it as other than AA 2.

Though Arkham County, Region (Panhandle, etc), Tri-State, Mid Atlantic, East Coast, Nation, North America, Western Hemisphere, World, Solar System, Stellar Cluster, Spiral Arm, Galaxy, Local Cluster, Super Cluster, Filament, Universe, Brane, Multiverse....that's enough sequels even for Activision...

Same here. As much as I liked the Batman games, I'd love to see what else Rocksteady has planned.

This is on the same level as thinking that Final Fantasy DDR game was real. Come on. There might be another Batman game, but there's a 0% it will be called Gotham World.

They actually have a clue to this in the game itself. I was playing Batman Arkham City and at one point I was sneaking up on three criminals and I heard them talking and the dialogue actually went like this.

"Man, Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, what are they going to do next? Arkham County? Arkham State? Arkham World?"

"Who knows, they might do it."

"Man, these people are crazy."

"They suuuuure are."

And the last crook said it in a very wink and nudge kind of way, like they clearly weren't talking about the politicians in the game who created this city sized prison, but instead were talking about the game developers.

I can't wait for the futuristic arkham galaxy and the one after, arkham universe!. Arkham dimensions will probably have multiple batmans like campy batman, or the dark knight working together. Btw, I am totally excited about all of that, can't get enough batman
