Heh, you know, usually this kinect stuff seems tacked on and dumb, but doing dragon shouts actually kinda sounds fun and awesome.

I haven't tried playing Skyrim for about a month. I was really disappointed with the endless roadblocks I ran into in the form of doors that can't be opened to complete quests. I still don't have high res textures, even after the patch.

I used the Kinect quite a bit in ME3. It definitely wasn't perfect, but it's the best use that I've seen so far of the hardware. I hope that this works just as well.

I don't understand you exactly. I mean, yeah, it really would work a lot better with a headset. Any time I've done any kind of voice recognition on a PC using a headset, it's been much better, faster, and more accurate than the Kinect. I think it's due to less need to filter out ambient noise in the environment, etc.

I agree with the sentiment that if you've got a $150 sensor array at your disposal, simply using the microphone for voice recognition and calling it Kinect support is a little disingenuous. I was controlling my sequencing software from across the room by dictating voice commands at my Windows 98 PC so I could record my MIDI drum kit, using the same headset I was getting my click track from. "Cakewalk. Rewind to start. Arm record. Go." That sort of thing. Dirt cheap, and over a dozen years ago, using hardware and software that is laughable by today's standards, and it worked so well that people who came to my home studio thought it was magic.

Dunno where I'm going with this...I just think the Kinect has SO MUCH more potential than voice recognition that's almost, but not quite, as good as what we had over a decade ago.

Wait a minute, Patrick. You say that you "probably won't" use the new Kinect features, but you go on to say in the caption that "[your] neighbors will probably not appreciate the Kinect update", implying the use of such features by you. I FIND THIS ARTICLE TO BE DISINGENUOUS!

So let's say you're playing a mage on master difficulty, and during a fight with a dragon it suddenly decides to turn and breathe fire on you. Will you trust the Kinect enough to yell "FEIM" and expect it to recognize that you're trying to become ethereal, and activate the shout in the one second it takes for you to burn to death?

@patrickklepek You see the videos of Cyrodiil? From a very far distance (I think still in Skyrim) you can see what looks roughly like the White-Gold Tower (up close it's just a solid piece of grey rock, but it fits general outline).

Why can't they just use a regular mic that you would use for online?
It's voice recognition so it should work just as well if not better.

So instead of fixing bugs and the like they think adding a crappy kinect support is a good idea? Can't help but think Microsoft just threw a bunch of money at them and told them to make it happen. Joy a kinect update for a game I own and I don't want or own kinect.

There's a built out landmass for the entire continent... It's just not to scale. I wouldn't give any more hope to Morrowind than any other province.

I'm sure Bethesda has the resources to have team focus on the Kinect stuff and bugs. They've been releasing patches pretty steadily since it's release so I am sure they have enough people to keep doing so.

The Kinect will only recognize the voice of the person playing, so you won't be able to yell "LOAD" to screw with them.

Personally I think it's going to make the game more enjoyable to play. There is alot of going back and forth to the menus (B Button) while playing and it makes the game slightly annoying. Being able to Load, Quicksave, Equip Weapons and Spells all without hitting the B Button will allow more time to focus on the game itself. The Inventory can be sorted by weight,value, and damage from what I saw in the preview as this will also save time.Be honest... You (Andy_117) don't have a Kinect because you're mommy won't drop the $150.00 for one, but why does that make everyone who bought one dumb? Don't knock it until you actually own one. It's a good thing they are trying to implement it into games that didn't have it before.

I tried using my Kinect on Mass Effect 3(Insanity), but it too fast paced and the commands are too long to get a good rythm going. They need to stick with simple "one word" commands to keep up with the flow of battle, Kinect does ME3 no justice at all. I believe Skyrim will surely benefit from this update.

Anyone who doesn't own a Kinect is going to say "This is stupid" simply because they can't use it. Have fun with your "B Button"... HA!

Awesome, time to dust off the Kinect. It should be worth it for the extra streamlining to the interface, dont think I'll be shouting Fos Rah do or whatever at my T.V. though...

Voice commands never work, I spent an hour trying to make Binary Domain understand the words I'm saying, I just gave up after a while because it just won't register my words. Not only that but even in game it confuses the words and messing with your gamepla, you can tweak the tresshold and noice reduction but that either causes the game to respond to the sound coming from your television or not responding at all to your commands.

Sounds like faulty equipment or you need to calibrate again. I never had any issues with it.

This was done on PC months ago. Console kiddies don't know 'bout my Thu'um.

This, like Siri on the iPhone, is a really cool idea that more often than not fails in execution. Provided that they keep trying and don't just give up because of the online backlash against it, ideas like these have the potential to be really interesting.

Yup, i've been playing it since the beggining of January, 3 months, 150 hours later, and still so much to do...

Actually i had to stop playing yesterday, when i got to BlackReach, cos i just felt so overwhelmed, i just said to myself, "i can't take it anymore!!!".

I was in that dungeon for about an hour and a half, i was feeling claustrophobic, i had to save and quit...

Man, that game is amazing!!!

At least they are still adding features into the game.

Goddammit, Beth. Give us some details on the bloody DLC....

It would be cool if you could use this with a headset across both consoles and PC.

Its great that such a gigantic game still keeps growing.
