Someone's Resume Alludes to the Existence of Alan Wake 2

This is really going to bum us out if it turns out to be a horrible lie.

Once again, a shining beacon of incandescent, game-related light has sprung forth from the black expanse of employment information that is LinkedIn. This time, it's in relation to a potential sequel to one of last year's best games.

Alan Wake: The best psychological horror story about a damaged author and his terrible narrative creations come to life since In the Mouth of Madness.
Alan Wake: The best psychological horror story about a damaged author and his terrible narrative creations come to life since In the Mouth of Madness.
Though it has since been scrubbed of the reference, Eurogamer caught wind this morning of a reference to Alan Wake 2 in the resume of pre-visualization artist Althea Suarez Gata. During her brief stint at a company called Halon Entertainment, Gata evidently worked on in-game cinematics for the title. Lending a bit of credence to the information is the fact that Halon also produced the "Deliver Hope" advertisement for Halo: Reach, establishing that there is already a relationship with Microsoft in place.

Alan Wake's developer, Remedy Entertainment, has been on record as saying that they'd love to produce a sequel, though as of last year, they had yet to discuss the prospect with Microsoft. Eurogamer posits the notion that the alluded-to cinematic production could be related to some kind of E3 announcement from MS, but if Remedy wasn't even talking about a sequel as of last year, that might be a bit far-fetched. Still, I think it's safe to say everyone around here would love to see this sequel make some kind of E3 appearance--especially if we'll have to wait another five years for it to hit store shelves.

They've made an official comment on this: they are working on new Alan Wake content, but it's not Alan Wake 2 and it's not DLC. Sounds like it will be something like "Alan Wake: GOTY Edition" or something, with some new content.

Yay if true, because this was my favourite game of last year. Full of memorable and awesome moments. DLC was amazing, what a tease for the sequel!

I really, really hope they make another Alan Wake title. I remember first hearing about the original back in 2005 when it was announced and being super excited. Despite having to wait five years it actually wasn't a dissapointment. Probably one of my top games of last year. The DLC was pretty solid too.

This seems to be a pretty promising, accidental sort of leak. Hope it's true.

Then maybe I can add another thing to my list of reasons to buy a 360.

If there is an Alan Wake 2 that'll be a day one purchase just like the first one.

Yeah, it'd be awesome if AW2 were more like the DLC. I kind of think it would have to be. Sorry for not picking up on the sarcasm.

They said all the hard-work and game-building was done for the first one so any follow-ups could be turned around fairly quickly (like a year or two).

I'd see your point if the end of the game was the end. After the DLC, though, it kind of needs a sequel.

Hate to burst your bubble, but most people seem to think that Too Human 2 won't ever come out, and they are just legally stating that intent to help in their lawsuit against Epic. I would love another Alan Wake, though.

Hopefully this is true. Alan Wake was very nearly tied with game of the year last year for me, and it is definitely one of the best games I have ever played.

Hopefully it'll come to fruition. Alan Wake was a great game, even if it didn't quite live up to the expectations I had for it pre-E3 2009. I think it'd be neat to see them go back to the original, open world vision that had for Alan Wake. They can do whatever they want though. The story and atmosphere were fantastic, and the combat was well done, if somewhat repetitive. That's enough to get me to buy the sequel.

I would love to see a sequel to this game. Alan Wake spent 5+ years in development; and it showed in some aspects. Their were area's of Alan Wake that looked like 2006. The Gameplay mechanic and story were great however. I really enjoyed it, and the DLC. I would love to see a sequel with some up to date visuals and more polish on the character models. Maybe a little more variety in the combat, and enemy A.I. would go a long way too. Keep the setting in the Northwest, or Northeast though, and leave it dark and spooky.

I liked Alan Wake a lot. But they should go multiplat this time. Microsoft can't possibly pay them enough to make it worthwhile. Did they even make their money back?

Anyway, I'm all for more Alan Wake.

After finally catching up on everything I missed from last year, I would say this game is near, if not at the top of, the best of last year.  A sequel is a must.

I've always wondered if anything bad ever happens to these people who's linkedin profiles give up nuggest of information.  I'm not sure how info is added to those profiles but I'd think it'd be the individuals themselves updated it and hence leaked info, if in a sideways manner.

I too would love to see a sequel, as the story kind of demands it. I was going to say that this was probably work done before the sales numbers came in and the fate of the sequel were determined. However, looking at Ms. Gata's resume she was working at Halon last month, so I am intrigued.

I wonder if Microsoft isn't ready to kill this franchise yet because they really don't have a hell of a lot left going on the 1st party front at the moment and they understand Alan Wake was up against some ridiculously stiff competition when it launched. In which case this is a very good situation to be in for Remedy.

A sequal would be great, I enjoyed the first game (although a few of my friends did not, it seems to be a game that have fallen into the marmite cattegory). Also, good pun Alex, I would be burnt out as well if this turns out to be false..

Played the first one on the 360 and it was a pretty awesome game. Maybe this'll get a PC release? (An Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2 PC double pack would be pretty cool, Remedy *hint, hint*).

I didn't mind the combat as much as some people (I wasn't sick of it by the end)... But they better not make me do anymore platforming (DLC 2, I'm looking at YOU) in the next game or I'll hunt somebody down and hurt them.

Alan Wake was my surprise hit of last year. I got it through a sale and loved close to everything about it, and I especially grew to like a lot of the characters. The DLC wasn't all too fresh, though. It had too much emphasis on the combat which I was already a little fed up with before even the main game was up.

inanimate objects and bulldozers plagued by poltergeists was cool during the first few encounters but once it was virtually a standard mob enemy it lost its admirable creativity.

Apparently it ended up selling a million copies.  Remedy are a reasonably small studio, so I guess they could have broken even on that, even with how long it took to develop.
