Sony has decided against making the successor to the PlayStation 3 a download-only console, The Wall Street Journal reports.
There was a proposal on the table to completely eliminate an optical drive from the hardware, but Sony decided this was too risky, apparently due to bandwidth concerns.
You know that Giant Bomb doesn’t traditionally run rumors, especially ones related to the next-generation, but a report coming from The Wall Street Journal is, well, a tad different.
The publication said Sony is aiming for a 2013 release, which lines up with what I’ve heard, too.
