Speak 'N' Rock 'N' Crazy

Breaking electronics in really creative ways.

It looks like it would either electrocute me or drive me insane.
I love Rock Band and I love circuit-bent electronics, but I never imagined the two would ever converge. Well, apparently my imagination just sucks, because a mad scientist by the name of Aj Gannon has smooshed a Speak 'N' Spell and a Rock Band guitar into a terrifying monster he has dubbed the Speak 'n Spellbinder. It may no longer function as either a Speak 'N' Spell or a Rock Band guitar, but it is best-in-class at making terrifying electronic noises. Seriously, the goddamn thing sounds possessed. Perhaps best of all is that, according to circuit-bending site GetLoFi, Gannon built the Speak 'n Spellbinder specifically for his upcoming album, which will “blend Ukulele and Kazoo with lots of circuit bent toys.” That doesn't sound like something I could actually listen to for more than maybe 45 seconds, but in concept I love it. Also, second ukulele reference of the day. Weird.

Watch the video and be amazed.

This is what I imagine Mr. Saturns sounding like.

Posted by SaucySala

Oh my god, Satan has made a guitar!

Posted by Steve_C

The dude travelled through space to earth just to play us abrasive noises. That's awesome.

I really need to circuit bend that Speak 'n Spell I bought.

Posted by CL60

Hahaha.

Posted by PolyesterPimp

sounds like a 56k modem booting up

Posted by Cloneslayer

i still think speak n' spell is the pinnacle of all technology. I still have mine!

Posted by Gregomasta

Really brilliant.

Posted by Meltbrain

Wow, that's pretty weird.

Dear god, what abomination has this man brought upon us?

Posted by ep_driver

Wayyyyyy cool how he made it look like a Gibson SG.

Posted by ArbitraryWater

His name is Gannon (which is only one n away from the lord of evil). That instrument is enhanced by the Triforce of Power to do his evil bidding (make our ears bleed)

Circuit bent stuff is great. :D

Posted by DrX25

A) I want one.

B)The guitar is actually a 360 Guitar Hero II Guitar.
Posted by MrKlorox

This is by far the least lame speak and spell in existence. The other circuit bent ones were quite wack.

Posted by TheClap

Neat and impressive, but pretty annoying.  Not for me.

Posted by Richlough

It sounds like when Ferris Beuller hits all of his keys on his keyboard that plays the coughs and sneezes .

Posted by Aaron_G

This guy has way too much time on his hands to morph those two things into one. Also, the controller looks more like a Guitar Hero controller, not a Rock Band one.

It's such a fine line between stupid and... clever.

What the fuck?

Posted by FCKSNAP

Holy fuck I want one. I also want one of those Umjammer Lammy guitars that Jeff (once?) has(had).

I do enjoy me some circut bending, but  circut bent speak-and-spells are really abrasive, give me  a nice ciruit-bent drum machine....

Posted by Scooper

Dude, you're not Ganon!

Posted by SithToast

Awessssssssome.

Edited by Nitrocore

I hope he enjoyed making that because I don't see a use for it, appart from maybe making people think that he's crazy?. Jamming is out for a start, I mean who wants that thing in the band with the flashing lights, and the o so smoothe sounding sounds. I guess theres just not much work for David Cross look a likes these days.

finally something we can use to speak with them ALIENS!

Speak and Spell does death metal roar. Nice.  It needs the phrases, though:

"That's correct, next spell"

maggot!

Posted by zityz

What in the fuckity fucking fuck?

Posted by composite

I definitely could see that thing being used in some cool ways in a Aphex Twin-like song, but it definitely is annoying all by its lonesome.

Also, my first born son will be named Gannon. LOL.

Someone hold me.

Interesting, I wonder how long it took to make

Posted by BlackCyan

I need to look into this album just so I can hear what that really sounds like when in action!

Totally hot. I want one.

You can't be a Mad Circuit-Bending Scientist and a musician at the same time.
