Super Meat Boy PC Box Art Is Amazing

Oh, hey, did you know Team Meat was releasing a boxed edition of its new PC game? Now you do!

Around the end of January, Team Meat will put out a boxed edition of Super Meat Boy for the PC. It'll be sold independently through the game's official website and ship with several goodies such as behind-the-scenes videos, sketches, and images of cutting room floor characters and art. For most SMB fans, these traditional inclusions are enough to warrant a purchase. But Team Meat has managed to make the set an almost irresistible purchase for dudes like me with just a casual interest in this really, really, frustratingly hard platformer. The cover art, folks, is just too amazing to pass up.

Seriously. Take a look:

Dave Rapoza, a freelance artist who's best known for his work on Magic: The Gathering cards, is the man responsible for the box art. According to the Team Meat blog entry about this SMB In A Box, Rapoza caught the indie developers' attention with a similarly stirring and inspired piece around the launch of the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game's release. The decision to go with him for the boxed version was pretty simple after a glance or three.

SMB In A Box will run you about 20-25 bones, depending on the final price of the printing, Team Meat has said on its blog. And it's looking to be worth every penny, right?

This looks amazing. Almost enough to make me want to subject myself to playing it.

Dude should do metal album covers instead of Magic The Gathering cards.

edit: or should I say MEATL covers?

I might end up buying this.  I haven't bought the game for the PC and would sort of like to see the behind the scenes stuff for the game so that  I can get into the mind's of the sick fucks that made this game!....unless those video's are on their website? Maybe I should go check.

This is all well and good but can anyone tell me if they patched out all the problems on the xbla version?

Meat Boy DOES have his skin flayed off.

"First off I want to thank Peta for helping us turn Super Meat Boy into a house hold name and of course for making themselves look quite foolish in the process... see (as mentioned in countless interviews) Meat Boy isn't made of animal meat, he's simply a boy without skin whos name is Meat Boy.. but sshh don't tell them that."

Man, I already bought this game for both XBLA and Steam. Stop making me want to buy it again!

That would make a great poster in my future game room.

Thank god they didn't show Meat Boy's meat.

I hope it's one of those oldschool full sized PC game boxes. You know, the ones the size of city phone directories.

I too own both the steam and xbla versions. I think this may be enough to get me to buy a 3rd copy.

I'm also waiting for the soundtrack CD that should be out soon.

I have Super Meat Boy on my xbox, but I might just have to buy this. Especially if it's only $25.

Posted by cstrang

I've already purchased two copies of this game: One from XBLA, and another from Steam.  Worth it.

Posted by GT-Man

Now that looks awesome never thought he looked like that

@papercut: What problems? This is the first I've heard of any...

I'm reluctant to buy this game twice, but come on' THIS is just waaaay too awesome to pass up.

That's appropriately disturbing.

Edited by crusader8463

I would only pay $20 for that if it was a poster. Still, glad to see someone making the PC version better for a change.

Posted by LordAndrew

They should also sell that as a poster.

Oh god yes, make it trapezoidal or something too.  Like the Thief boxes.   I would buy a third copy if it came in a trapezoidal box.

The monocle is never consistently one one side.

It takes someone truly evil to fake a monocle, and forget which eye he puts it in. It would have been out of character for him to wear the monocle on his correct eye.
