Swery 65's Working On Vita Launch Game, Lord of Apocalypse

The cult success of Deadly Premonition hasn't exactly translated into Access Games designer Swery 65 calling all the shots on what he works on next, despite the Internet's desires.

He continues to collaborate with Square Enix, with the latest tag-team coming in the form of Lord of Apocalypse, one of Vita's launch titles this December.

Swery 65 has revealed he's the acting director on Lord of Apocalypse, a Monster Hunter-style action RPG. It's unlikely you'll be sipping on a whole lot of coffee and mulling psychic visions in this one.

If you aren't buying a Vita, there are options: Lord of Apocalypse is coming to PSP, too.

Me? I just want to know what the man actually wants to work on next, not more contract work!

It's too bad he keeps getting stuck on projects he isn't able to control as much as DP, I would play any game this man designs.

I'm thinking about what game I will get for the Vita launch. I have a game in mind. A game I feel an odd connection to. Lord of Apocalypse, directed by Swery. He also worked on Deadly Premonition, back in 2010. You remember, don't you Zach?

In fairness, you've got to build a war chest to finance the crazy. It's better to do it this way, I think, since no suits will be looking to rein in the team's excesses if they self-fund their madness.

I followed the man on twitter and he followed me back. I've asked him questions and he has answered them politely. I will buy this man's game for Vita. Swery I wish you success.

Looks like Patrick didn't watched the Endurance Run.

This looks a lot like Lords of Arcana, another PSP game with Swery's involvement. It was also really, really bad.

Sounds interesting. While on paper this would sound disappointing, but then again Spy Fiction and Deadly Premonition on paper are just "my take on Metal Gear and Resident Evil". So a "my take on Monster Hunter" can be really good if he the higher ups don't try to control him.

Swery 65 is where you go to play a sweet darts minigame. I don't think they make proper games there.

Dude, Swery 64 is the bar in Deadly Premonition, not the man; it even says so on the link in your own article.

Unless he's gotten a promotion here, Lords of Arcana, which this is a follow-up to, wasn't really his game so much as he was serving as development director. Obviously I don't know for certain, but probably the same scenario.

I wasn't a fan of DP (maybe someday it'll click) but anything that leads to more pictures of Swery on the internet is a plus in my books.

He's adorable like Miyamoto, but with a "Maybe I'm a serial killer?" look in his eyes.

It's this just the same PSP title he worked on no so long ago? Lord of Arcana or something. I was under the impression it didn't do so well, but I guess they want to take another shot at the MH throne.

I really disliked DP from what I saw from the Endurance Run....  but Ill see how this game is going to turn out in the months to come and I might get it for the Vita

I'd also like to see another original swery joint.

I'm sure anyone interested in this thread would hate on me for saying so, but as much as I could tell I would like Deadly Premonition with a common sense control scheme, I couldn't deal with the control scheme long enough to enjoy the game. I'd settle for a DP remake with proper controls.

Oh... well... you see, the thing is, I don't really want a Vita.
