Luckily got into the alpha. Controlled great, looked great, ran around 60 fps on my pc (which is solid but not a powerhouse). The one issue I couldn't shake was the sense of "is this all the game is"? Granted this is just an alpha and there could be many more game modes I've yet to read about or they have yet to announce but for now, I worry this will be Titanfall all over again. Fun for a few days then I'm simply pretty much done with it.
@patrickklepek Giantbomb needs a "most disappointing delay" category during this years Game of the Year Awards.
Batman: Arkham Knight
Evolve
Halo 5
The Witcher 3
The Order: 1886
Quantum Break
Dying Light
The Division
Mad Max
I feel like I'm missing some still...
Halo 5 was never a 2014 game, and games like The Order and The Division never had release dates and seemed very likely to miss 2014.
Halo 5 clearly was intended to be a 2014 game, the just never technically said it. They backtracked/weasled out of it this year, but they were clearly full of shit. No one believes for a minute they planned to wait 2 years from the release of their new console until releasing a sequel for their only relevant franchise.
So maybe you can, technically, keep it off a 2014 list... but we know.
If you think video games are fucked you're stupid. REMEMBER ALL THOSE BAD-ASS GAMES THAT CAME OUT IN 2006? No because there were like two. This shit takes time, dummies.
Oh hey, it's like 2012 all over again and a bunch of games people are into are being delayed into the next year.
No man, remember in 2012 they were saying how there weren't many games coming out and there were just slapdash spinoffs like God of War: Ascension and Gears of War: Judgment and Batman: Arkham Origins because they were saving all their new and good ideas for the new consoles? Remember how it was just the old consoles holding them back from these amazing new games? Man, that sucked. Thank God those new consoles came out almost a year ago, because we've been flooded with those new franchises and bold new ideas that the gaming industry had been holding back at the end of last generation.
Oh, and nobody wants to play their old games on their new consoles. Backwards compatibility is really backwards, hahahahaha. What people REALLY want is to pay $40-60 dollars to replay those games, slightly uprezzed, on their new consoles.
Maybe with the extra time they can figure out a way to advertise/talk about this game that doesn't leave me forgetting about it a day afterwards (seriously, every time that Evolve is mentioned I have to look up what it is again).
Good. If this game doesn't come out properly, it would be pretty trash because it revolves around being well paced, well balanced, stable, and continually engaging. Hopefully they hit the nail on the head.
well that halo collection looks very exciting now (honestly no joking, AC:Unity and Halo Collection are the only games im excited about)........ thank god I have an okay PC for some steam games
Fine with me. I was planning to buy it at launch, but I really doubt I'll play the game much. A game that requires you to co-operate with three other strangers against a powerful fifth? I just see a long of shouting and racist/homophobic language hurled around (when anyone actually has mics on the other end, that is).
The last of us remaster, GTA V and halo the master chief collection are the games I'm most looking forward to this year. Which is maybe kind of sad because I played all of them before...
Well if Johnathan Blow can ship The Witness this year his remaining competition on PS4 is laughable or annualized.
No one cares about Driveclub, it had its chance to stand out as a launch game and now that opportunity has blown past. It is nice that they are releasing Little Big Planet 3 but it feels almost more like a means to support the ongoing DLC for that franchise. Alien: Isolation looks cool but it feels like that game is one delayed milestone away from a 2015 delay. Dragon Age: Inquisition looks like it will ship (otherwise it would have been delayed further) so with good reviews it could clean up.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Assassin's Creed: Unity will ship, because they have to, and they will be big but they are a week apart from each other. If The Witness and Galak-Z can ship in September or October they will get the premium spots in the Featured section and if the early word is anything to go by then they will be mighty appealing for PS4 owners.
@imoverthewholezombiething: Those are my exact concerns as well. It bums me out because I know I wouldn't be able to synch up with my friends to play and the game doesn't seem like it would be a good experience with randos online. Idk if I'll bother playing at all.
Oh well, now I guess I'll have to settle for Far Cry, Dragon Age, WWE 2k15, Madden/Sports, Shadow of Mordor, Halo Remakes, Destiny, Super Smash Bros, Assassin's Creed Unity, Alien, Civilization: Beyond Earth, Advanced Warfare, The Evil Within, Sunset Overdrive, and a huge number of Digital games.
People saying that there are no games this year are crazy people.
Far Cry, Mordor, Civ, and Sunset seem like the only good games out of those. Also 14 games over 4 months (which are usually packed) isn't a whole lot.
I don't really mind if the spread is a bit better. Even with all those delays, fall is looking pretty good. I could see it being a problem if I only had a PS4 or something.
Man I was really excited to play this with my friends, we love playing L4D versus and while not entirely the same it definitly seems to capture similar feelings.
