That Latest Fallout: New Vegas Patch for Xbox 360? Yeah, Don't Install It

Klepek, Patrick if I will, you've been a boon to the site, but patches that crop up new issues that require further patches are not something relatively recent to gaming.  In the wild, woolly days of the PC, you'd download a hundred meg patch, and then another hundred meg file just to undo what the previous one did.

I am really glad this is officially the last GameBryo game to be developped by Bethesda. Here's hoping that Catherine won't have all of those problems.

Is there a number for the patch so I can avoid when I play the game on ps3 after ....

Obsidian needs to just make their OWN engine so they will know it inside and out. They've been borrowing engine's and making games that feel identical to others for years now.

Bethesda hasn't said you couldn't play New Vegas, they just stated to not download this most recent update if you do want to play New Vegas.

I think I butchered my English there so in other don't download the update and you'll still be able to play it. Sorry about the butchering. :-)

My game has been crashing nonstop before this update anyways, I can't even finish it.

They obviously tested this patch. It's just that their test machines were different than the billion of other systems on the market. Right?

I remember a time when console gamers laughed at us PC guys, claiming that "you just put the game in and it works" and "we don't need no stinking patches". Guess what, he laughs best who laughs last. Which is me.

This is nothing, in Medieval 2 Total War: Kingdoms, there was a bug that first froze the game, i waited 15 minutes for it to unfreeze but i had to end the program, then later on the game froze and then crashed to screen, then later on the game froze, CTS and then went to the Blue Screen of Death, EVERYTIME. So somehow   The Creative Assembly "created" a bug that managed to program itself to it developed itself to a virus :p

As long as the PC version is fine.

I had already installed the new patch, but I just bought the game earlier this week. Once I started the game with the new patch it said DLC not available and some content can not be used or some shit like that. I didn't even have the DLC. But now I see graphic problems like tearing and stuff. Maybe I can take the game back and tell them it is broken.

Not a problem for me, been done with this game for awhile.

I does bring into question the usefulness of Microsoft certification, especially when they miss something like this on a closed platform like the 360.

I would expect nothing less (or more I guess) from Obsidian... Sigh...

I didn't have any start up issues, but sometimes when I try and open up the Pip-Boy the screen just goes blurry and I can't see anything and then I exit out of it and everything is fine and then I try again and it works.

People keep telling me that the reason we need to keep the current generation of consoles going for another five years is because we've finally gotten to the point where we know the platform enough that we can make great games without the problems of our original titles. . . But I just don't see it. They may be doing more, in the sense that they're shoving more money-making bullshit DLC down our throats. Just not actually making better products and better experiences (and don't get most people started on Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas on the PC, which seems to both still be a TERRIBLE failure on the PC according to the Steam forums.)

Since I  have been a PC gamer my entire life, I'm not sure if this is the way it has always been. Do the last few years of a console cycle always find themselves filled with half-assedness? Or is this unique?

I don't even know what the certification is for a business anymore. How corporate/qualified are the employees to review that stuff. Do they report to anyone? Does anyone there care about video games? What about the Libyans, won't someone think of the Libyans?!
