@Dberg: Yup. All signs point to this being the lead up to Outer Heaven, probably in the late 1970s after Peace Walker. Heck we might even play Jaeger to kill Naomi's parents. The quote of "an army without a country" makes me think OH was not totally formed yet, as does the pun of Zero, and Kojima's re-use of Here's To You, a 1971 song used in the late 70s documenting the RAF funeral march.

“We’re not going to say that it’s Metal Gear Solid 5,” Kojima said after the demo, “but it is a prologue.” Kojima also confirmed that the demo was running on PC hardware that was similarly equipped to PS3, and that the final game should closely resemble the demo video.

Kojima also confirmed that he is personally creating Ground Zeroes.

coolest thing about it I think was how small the credits list was. It was readable!

It's not. The person in the promo pictures is Big Boss. He wears his Outer Heaven suit from the PSP games with the Outer Heaven skull logo from MGS4 on it, and he has a visible eyepatch underneath his nightvision goggles. There is nothing that suggests it's any other Snake.

It's probably a prequel following MGS3, Solid Ops and Peace Walker. What's not clear is if we're going to play as or against him. It would not surprise me in the slightest if this is a red herring and we end up playing as Liquid Snake or Gray Fox.

i love metal gear but i hope kojima makes a new ip at some point

How can you not like that game. Honestly.

As longtime MGS fan, MGS4 disappointed me. I felt it fumbled hard trying to wrap up loose ends in the story and tried too hard to hit the same themes of past games. Like, one thing that people loved about MGS1, was the depth of character that the bosses had. You almost felt bad for killing them. In MGS4, they tried to emulate that in a really lazy and hamfisted way with storytime with Drebin.

And gameplay-wise, while it made huge improvements with third person aiming and the octocamo. Things like the drebin shop really unbalanced the game. You'd have more guns than you knew what to do with by Act 2. And hey, maybe being overpowered with a whole arsenal of guns is your thing, but it's not what I come to MGS for.

I could come up with a laundry list of things I didn't like about MGS4 and how it soiled the series for me, but at the end of the day I'm still excited for this new one. Mostly because it seems to be doing something new with the series, and partly because that MGS fan still lives somewhere inside me and is thinking "hey a new MGS game for an actual home console!"

I bet 10 Brad-bucks that "Ground Zeroes" refers to this being a modern re-telling of the original two MSX games. Both prequels, or "zeroes", to the Solid series.

I'm kinda hyped for this. And i hate MGS.

Ground Zeroes is like naming your band the Lone Rangers.

Normally I would agree with the general consensus that "Ground Zeroes" is a silly name, but knowing Kojima I am sure there are multiple layers of meaning to it in the context of the game's story. I am really looking forward to this game based on only the scant details that are available, even more so if a proper PC version is being planned.

But how is it coming out on current gen consoles? Seems like it must already be mostly done, or will be rushed out. OR, it'll land after the next gen hits, God of War style.

The response to the new engine seems to be a universal "skeet skeet skeet," makes me want a Zone of Enders 3 using it. That would sell me a PS4 launch day.

So they demoed it on PC yet the game page says X360 and PS3. Will the game be on PC or not?

Love the MGS series to death and gladly welcome more if Kojima is lead on it!

Sounds like they are building a on the great open-ended gameplay and environments from MGS3 and MGS4 (A1-3) that were so interesting. As long as the story isn't fucked, should be a stellar game. Hopefully it is a PS4/PC game too. @Rabid619 said:

I doubt this game will be on current consoles, unless it is THAT ready to come out next year. We already have the MGS collection with two great games starring Big Boss though.
