There's a New, Revised Ouya Available

The little console that could (or couldn't?) has been updated.

No Caption Provided

Ouya made a poor first impression, but the company is still pushing forward. In fact, a new, updated version of the hardware is now available for purchase.

The new Ouya comes in black, has a refined controller, improved Bluetooth connectivity to cut down on controller lag, and double the internal storage (16GB). None of the graphics or CPU hardware have changed, however.

This new Ouya will cost you $129.99.

If you're interested in Ouya but don't want the updated hardware, the original $99 model is still available. With Towerfall leaving Ouya exclusivity in the coming weeks, however, how many are still interested?

I happily use my OUYA as an emulation and streaming box. I often watch things on XBMC and I played three Final Fantasy games on it! It was so much nicer to play those games there because the PS1 versions I have are notoriously slow when battles start/end. Seriously it's like a cumulative 2 hours of time spent waiting for these things over the course of a 30 hour game. A better controller would be nice, but I just synced my PS3 controller with it which works 1,000,000,000x better. You never use the touchpad anyway, so it really doesn't matter. And the storage is cool, but honestly I just plugged a 32GB flash drive into the back and it's been fine for me.

While I can appreciate the persistence of this company and the fact that they have not given up at this point. They should give up at this point.

I wonder if the Ouya can be turned into a Steam-streaming machine. If so, it can be a suitable option for those interested in having a low-profile machine on their living rooms, for example.

I think you have to leave that typo as is. It's too ironic to do otherwise.

This seems like a pretty insignificant updates amongst insignificant updates. And then charging 30 bucks more for it, a year after the first one came out? Weird. The Ouya is weird.
