THQ Confirms Metro 2033 Sequel's 'Last Light' Subtitle, We Pray for Return of Ghost Train

No one can tell you what the ghost train is, you must experience the ghost train for yourself.

Though the Ukranian-developed Metro 2033 didn't set the world on fire, there's really nothing else like it, and I'm not joking when I'm saying Metro 2033 was easily one of my favorite experiences from last year.

Domain registrations have pointed to the Metro 2033's sequel being dubbed Metro 2033: Last Light, which THQ finally confirmed on a conference call this afternoon discussing their financial results. The game isn't scheduled for 2012 sometime, but THQ famously green-lit another one before Metro 2033 released.

Ever since Klepek mentioned "ghost train," I've been wanting to play this.

Mildly interested in this.

I wonder what ending they're gonna be basing it off of. The book ended with the "bad" ending, so maybe they'll run with that.

Metro was pretty great. The only thing I didn't like were the jump scares. They all seemed to be kind of hinted at before they happened, so they were never really that surprising.

I really really enjoyed playing through Metro 2033. The sequel is a no brainer for me. Looking forward to it.

Metro 2033 was GREAT.  I've actually got two hours to go, only recently purchased it.  I love everything about it.

I enjoy Klepek's enthusiasm for ghost train.

Hopefully they will do a proper debug before release. The floating cup was funny but I wouldn't say the same for the rest of them.

Ghost Train was a pretty great moment, that game had an amazing atmosphere that not many games can pull off. Just hope they rebalance the damage against human enemies a bit better.

Awesome.  I adored Metro 2033 for all the little atmospheric touches it had: the gas mask, the watch, the lighter, etc.  I can't wait for more news about this.

Metro 2033 is so far my 2011's 2010 GotY, so this is more than exciting news. If this improves on some of the poor monster AI and ass-final three chapters (I loved the hectic and unwieldy gunplay, but not against the mutants), then this will be fucking awesome.

I LOVE that Patrick is representing that game on the site because honestly Dave's review wasn't enough (and he recognizes this as much).  I'm disappointed in the title because I felt "Metro 2034" sounded like a much better name but I guess franchising requires the name to be the same.

Ok, if they're selling for you THQ. Another FPS set in post apocalypse is the last thing that interests me personally... unless you count RAGE.

It saddens me that they didn't call it Metro 2034.

I just finished metro 2033 its not a bad game but the combat feels out dated and weapon sounds are weak the strongest thing about the game is the location and atmosphere.

Nice. If they can optimize the graphics engine and making the targeting a little easier, then I'm on board for the sequel. The first game was pretty good - atmospheric, good graphics, interesting story, interesting characters and some pretty strange moments. It's just that the shooting was... a bit rubbish, but that can be easily fixed.

Metro 2033: Run a train. Because underground the ratio of male to female is 20 to1.

I was really digging it and then it autosaved me in a part where I was being shot by three people at once and I didn't wanna start over. Maybe I'll buy it on pc.

Im so excited for this. I loved the first one so hard.

Really liked the 2033 and its setting and story. Great atmosphere and gun play. This sequel should be good. 

I'm down for another. Just bring on an open world entry in the series at some point. I wanna see STALKER from another angle.

I'll take a look at this one. Metro 2033 was incredibly frustrating for no reason. The sneaking aspects were garbage and the combat was no better. 

I thought the sequel is going to be called Metro 2034... Are they not following the books anymore? Either way, I can't wait.

And come on, the whole gas mask and notebook thing is a big gimmick. It could be replaced with a menu and it wouldn't have made it any different, maybe even made it better.

I didn't realize that so many people really enjoyed this game, I had written it off but seeing all this support for it is going to make me watch Steam for a crazy sale and maybe take a chance.

Cool, metro story is pretty intriguing.
