OK, so this needs to hilariously be, like 8 gigs.  Seriously, how big can this game be, memory-wise?

This isn't that surprising when you think about it. The Macs and the ipod in MGS4 and also, from what I heard, Kojima really likes Macs.

Also, I am sorry, but Apple+gaming=fail. Since Marathon and Diabo 2, Apple simply has nothing. Before that they had more then a fighting chance, but they lost. They to stop. The iPhone would be cool for gaming if it worked, but so far nothing has worked terribly well. I'll wait for the nVidia thing coming to the market for some decent stuffs.

From what Kotaku has said, it is read in Famitsu that it is just a point and click (or in this case a touch and shoot) style game. You won't control Snake, but you just touch the enemies to shoot at them.

Interesting. I would be getting this game if I wasn't on a Verizon plan right now. I even got the MGS Mobile game when it came out for Verizon carriers (which was actually really good- it was like the original MGS and played pretty well) but this might be where I draw the line. Unless I cancel my plan I probably won't be getting this.

Why couldn't they call it the Solid-i?  Mwahhh...

I've never seen so many people cry about a game not being ported to the platform of their choice.

If it does turn out to be a "Duck Hunt" version of Metal Gear Solid, I'm going to laugh. They already stated their original design for the game had to be toned back for the lack of iPhone controls.

The gab between cellphone games from Japan, versus getting those same games outside of Japan, just got a bit smaller with this news. Developers have been pushing gaming on phones ineffectively for years, this is the first time I can recall being remotely interested in a cell-phone game. Aside from all the games from Japan that are never released over here (Did you know they made a goddamn sequel to Final Fantasy IV for cellphones?). Granted the logistics over wanting your phone doing something more than Tetris can be debated. But I'll bite and give this a fair chance.

I'm pretty immune to the whole Xbox 360 port concept, seeing how I own both a 360 and Ps3 and played and beat MGS4 a long time ago. I will admit there is defiantly a market for a MGS4 360 port, but the trade off from a hardware standpoint would be pretty insane. Were talking about completely re-engineering code from everything that was custom made for the ridiculously sophisticated Ps3. It wouldn't be just a port. The amount of time and effort, and more importantly budget, would be the equivalent of them making a brand new game. Then there's the limited space on the HDDVD's, texture resolution would take a hit, and then there's the tons of uncompressed audio for the ton of cut-scenes. It would be 4 disks...at least. It would be doable. Just ridiculously difficult, time consuming, and would cost a ton.

Then there's always the track record of that original xbox port of MGS2 barely selling anything to inspire them. :/

i am so disapointed at this announcement. ive been so excited at the idea of mgs4 being released on the 360. regardless if its on 1 disc or 10. im pretty sure it will happen eventually. theres far more 360 users than ps3 users. 

If I can get another phone sometime, and there's an option to get an iPhone for free, I'll probably get the iPhone for free.

I thought Kojima'd gotten his hatred toward his fans out of his system with MGS2.

I wouldn't mind replaying MGS4 on the 360 for achievements, but the thought of the nerd rage this causes fills me with glee.
This is a terrible waste of resources and a stellar license. I thought MGS4 on the PS3 was a fitting farewell to Snake and a port of that would've made it possible for more people to enjoy that instead they're gonna dig up and rape his corpse on the Iphone. Anything would have been better than this.

Oh and that Thiago character needs to fuck off back to Gamespot or Gametrailers with that fanboy bullshit.

Is this really so dramatic? It's a MGS mini game. It's not MGS4. Previously we had MG Ac!d, MGS Mobile, MGS Digital Comic, Portable Ops, and whatever else. Why's this suddenly getting people to rage? it actually looks pretty good and if Kojima is involved it'll likely have some neat things included, even if it's just a virtua-cop like shooter as it seems to be in the screenshots. Waste of resources and licence? It'll hardly occupy all of the MG team's members' attention and time, and the licence isn't wasted since they own it and don't have to pay anything for it. More metal gear is always good, not bad.

Have the iPhone but I'm pretty sure the gameplay is going to suck, it's hard enough clicking on letters on the touch keyboard, how about shooting the wrong guy then clicking backspace?! Waste of time if u ask me...
