Travis Touchdown Goes High-Definition in August

Wave that laser sword glowy thing around with your Move controller, too.

Fightin' otaku and ladies man Travis Touchdown has been limited to the Wii for the past few years, but that changes on August 16, when No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise arrives on PlayStation 3.

Konami got around to confirming the North American release date for the PlayStation Move-enhanced Heroes' Paradise today because the game is actually launching in Europe right now. We have to wait.

I dig No More Heroes--and by extension Suda 51--from a stylization standpoint, but the gameplay in his games have failed to grab me. That seems to be the case with a number of Suda 51's games, which I'm totally okay with. I'm happy with hacking and slashing takgin a back seat, though, given how many games lack any sense of style to begin with. It's why I'm looking forward to checking out Touchdown's HD debut.

Apparently, the xbox 360 version is not going to be available anywhere outside of japan. This makes no sense to me.

In Europe now?! I've been waiting for this, must have gotten the dates mixed up...

Link is broken on the front page.

Awesome.

Does anyone know if this is Move only or if it will work with a standard controller, because I would totally play NMH again but I'm not going to shell out $100 to play it with a Move.

Posted by PerfidiousSinn

I've actually played this via import, and was kinda disappointed. The sharper graphics are nice, but it is technically inferior to the Wii version. They added some bad frame rate stutter and longer load times (can't install the game either).

The version I played was also censored, but I'm thinking they'll take that out for the US release.

Posted by Pepsiman
@GoodAssLettuce: Yeah, you can play this version without a Move controller and just use a regular controller. In fact, it's based on a previous PS3 version that only had controller support in the first place, so the Move stuff has only been a relatively recent edition.

So will I be able to shake my six axis up and down and have this thing work?

Posted by Typographenia

Can't wait, I'll be there day one!

Posted by Xpgamer7

I love No more heroes, it's probably the best title on the wii. Can't wait for the HD version.

Posted by Ezekeilpurger

YES!

Posted by kennybaese

I recently got rid of my Wii stuff so I'm looking forward to playing this thing on my PS3. It's a remake of the first one, right?

Posted by RE_Player1

Defiantly getting this day 1. Always wanted to play the original but I don't want to take my Wii out of the closet.

Posted by Mystyr_E

I'd prefer an HD-ified Killer 7 but I suppose this'll have to do

I would understand if they were doing this for number 2. But a three-make of the first one? WHY

This game will sell like shit. It's a 3 year old game, people who really wanted to play it have done so already years ago. And it's not like it was stellar in the first place.

@CookieMonster: I'm ordering it from Japan then.

Will I be able to play with a controller?

Posted by Vigorousjammer

They should have delayed it for a year, and put in all of the No More Heroes 2 content in it and sold it as an HD Collection in the vein of the God of War & Sly Cooper Collection. (despite Grasshopper not being Sony-licensed)

it would have made a lot more sense, wouldn't take many more resources, seeing as how the games both run on almost the same engine, and it probably would sell more copies when it comes out.  I think this is gonna sell really poor simply because so many people have already played it 3 years ago.

Posted by tiagokun

Got it and I'm playing it now. So far it's cool.

Posted by drac96
@JeffGoldblum: Yeah, you can play it with a controller. The original Japanese version of this game only supported a controller. This version of the game allows you to choose whether or not you want to use the move or a dualshock.

or people who have had it on the Wii may rebuy it for the ps3 and trophies involved.. hmm

No More Heroes is my favorite game, and I'm getting really close to buying a PS3 just for those neat add ons.

Maybe, but I'm guessing there's not a large amount of people who would go back to this game after three years.

Well that's a shame. Guess I'll never play it.

@Catolf: Not to mention the part where no one games on the Wii.
Posted by JackSukeru

I never played the second one, should probably get on that sooner or later. First game was crazy in the very best kind of way.

Posted by IshimuraD

I'm really tempted to double-dip with NMH, but I think I'm going to wait for a price drop, especially if it launches at $60. I loved the game on the Wii, but there's too many other games I have to catch up on.

Yeah right, despite slow start it sold well in the end.
But at least it is nice to see that it is not the lack of exclusives that makes some of you let the Wii get dusty.      : /

I thought this was already out for some reason.

Posted by ShadowKnight508

Great to hear...I have been waiting for this game to be announced in North America ever since the first bits of information into the existence of this game began last year.

I wouldn't say a large amount but there were plenty of non Wii owners whom wanted to play this game and whom were let down because it was just on the Wii, it gives them the chance to play it. Three years old or not it's still damn fun.

This is not a console war, so that's enough.

I'll buy it!

Gameplay "failed to grab you?" What are you some kind of fuckhead? Learn how to get some jollies.

Posted by fenixREVOLUTION

Kind of indifferent to this, for whatever reason, I just couldn't get into the first one. Glad it'll reach more people hopefully though.

Posted by Hizang

I'll be getting this later today then, the UK box art...

Posted by GetEveryone

I will be all over that.

If I have the money... there are so many games coming out later in the year it's going to be a struggle.
Edited by Wraxend

My copy should be with me in a couple of hours!

Why is the US getting it so late i thought we'd grown past the delays between releases in different regions.

Just in case you want to know it supports both Move and a normal controller.

Posted by AngeTheDude

Do you NEED the move to play this? I hope not.

I remember reading it was due to whatever clowns are publishing this really want waggle.  And the 360 doesn't have waggle, so that is why.  I guess they didn't want to try Kinect either.
But lamest reason for not releasing a game that is all set to make some money.
Posted by strembones

Looks like I will have a reason to fire up the PS3

Posted by ddensel

Probably would've picked this up if it were released on 360, but I guess motion controls are a bit important to the game.

Edited by AngriGhandi

So... they release a 360 version, but only in the region that hates the 360, and not in America, where people actually buy it?
Awesome!

Actually that would be just "SPELLING NAZI".  Grammar doesn't cover spelling.

ONTOPIC :  Weird that the 360 version isn't being released outside of Japan.
