Ubisoft Buys Trials HD Developer RedLynx

Microsoft still publishing Trials Evolution, but after that, it's all Ubisoft.

I've heard of few games causing more screaming fits from my friends than Trials HD.
I've heard of few games causing more screaming fits from my friends than Trials HD.

After RedLynx finishes Trials Evolution in partnership with Microsoft, the developer will officially fold into the Ubisoft family.

The Assassin's Creed publisher is buying 'em up.

There are only a handful of bonafide blockbuster hits on Xbox Live Arcade, but Trials HD, which has sold more than two million copies to date, is one of them.

Financial details weren’t disclosed and Ubisoft and RedLynx aren’t talking about what's after Trials Evolution is released “in the coming months,” but the press release mentions extending the Trials franchise to “an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms."

I only messed around with Trials HD, but I’m on board with the sequel, despite hearing how much of a time sink nailing those time trials can be. Everyone needs a terrifically frustrating game that's also super awesome every so often.

I really hope they don't start making Trials games like they do AC games.

Well I guess as long as Microsoft continues to get installments in the series it's not a loss for them.

Good for them. I hope they still get to work on the variety of games they do at the moment.

Every article about this only mentions Trials. A lot of them say they're a Xbox exclusive developer.

Well, say what you will about Ubisoft, but at least this will almost assuredly result in RedLynx games being multi-platform.

Yes. Normally, a Ubisoft acquisition is a bad thing, but it's not too hard to extrapolate from "bringing the Trials franchise to an even broader range of digital platforms" that the PC will probably one day see more Trials. It became clear from Evolution being another XBLA-exclusive that RedLynx was content to be pimped out by Microsoft to beef up their XBLA catalogue, so if Ubisoft plans to change that, I'm all for this.

I, too, hope this will be true. It's a great game, but trying to make a track using an xbox controller is less than stellar. Having the game on PC would make this so much easier. Love the idea.

Omg RIP RedLynx! Another wonderful original indie developer lost to the mainstream fascist corporations!!

Or, you know, awesome news.
