Ubisoft Delays Assassin's Creed: Unity By Two Weeks

This is why I don't want to preorder anything, afraid it will get delayed and so I would rather buy something else

I hope an indie dev issues a press release sometime soon to the effect of their game getting delayed a couple hours due to being baked out of their collective minds.

Destiny to be the only game to release this year at the current rate of things.

The trailers don't bother me, because I just wait for the Quick Look. I've long since depleted my interest in scores of weekly trailers. The only time I actually watch them is during E3 because I like being into the hype.

Preordering ist not the best idea in general, but i still find myself doing it from time to time. Not sure how I feel about this delay. So much stuff is coming out in November now, I might actually end up getting Shadow of Mordor now. Also, the devs probably have to work non-stop if two weeks actually have an impact on the game. Open-world games break, just let it happen from time to time, we know it.

So, what are they removing this time?

I could't agree more. But I hope it's like Black Flag. I had no interest in that game before it came out but turned out to be a very good game.

I bet they'll end up just delaying it till next year at some point before release. That's what all the cool game devs are doing...

I'm also convinced that's going happen to Far Cry 4 before all's said and done.

Sunset Overdrive, Disney Infinity 2, Bayonetta 2, and Civ: Beyond Earth are like the only games for the rest of the year I'm buying for sure. Maaaaybe Shadow of Mordor? And Far Cry 4, but I bet that'll get #delayedto2015

This probably means that Far Cry's getting booted into next year, right? I can't imagine Ubi would want to cannibalize its own sales by releasing two tentpoles a week apart from each other.

This is pretty much confirmation that Far Cry 4 is getting pushed back, right? There's no way in hell Ubisoft releases two Assassin's Creed games and then a week later puts out Far Cry.

I wouldn't mind if they delayed it to November 2015. This is the make or break AC game for me. If this isn't the one that sucks me back in I'm probably never playing another AC game after this one.

Yep! you can pay if you dont wanna unlock them the normal gameplay way.

I'm sure Ubisoft is going to use that time to polish up the PC version so they don't end up with another Watch Dogs situation on their hands, right guys?

I am so fucking tired of fucking Assassin's Creed.

However, I have decided I will probably buy Unity. Why? Because I appreciate (even if it is only motivated by their cynical greediness) that they are one of the only places to say "we have a new generation of hardware, so let's specifically design a game for it that is in absolutely no way limited by having to be reducible to the previous generation's hardware, too".

Of course, they're still coming out at a bad time. A week after COD, a week before Dragon Age, and the same day as The Crew. Then again, maybe that's not such a bad time. Those are all big titles, but a lot of people rightfully dismiss Dragon Age for the cynical money-grab copy-paste-dungeon crap that it was in the second game, The Crew looks like it might be kind of mediocre at best, and COD... well, even for those of us who enjoy playing it, a week is about enough time to become exhausted from it for another year.

Smells like a trap to me.

I hate when game publishers and developers justify microtransactions by saying "we're just giving people who want to finish a game and don't have enough time in their busy lives to get around to it with limited play time". That's such dishonest bullshit.

If you wanted to give people options, you would give them options. It could be options right in the game, like any other option. No need to be an opportunist and squeeze extra dollars out of those people with limited time who "want to play the game their way" that you "want to enable to do exactly that".

I wonder if Ubisoft actually expects people to buy both.

Is this game still misogynist?

The crazy October '14 rush has now all but completely vanished. Seems making current gen games is taking a lot more time than developers were expecting.

At the very least they'll make sure to scrub through the files to make sure that you can't make it look better and run better just by editing an ini file.

AC3 was really a downer, I tried playing it again on PC and man I just couldn't but Black Flag was pretty amazing so I really hope Unity pulls some new shit.

So someone leaks the xbone version in a video which shows the worst tearing I'VE EVER SEEN, and then suddenly the game is delayed? HMM I WONDER WHY??

Could you imagine a game with the equivalent of the 'Konami code' releasing now? Extra lives, weapon/vehicle unlocks etc. Wouldn't happen because they'd miss the opportunity to grab more money out of you.

(Saying they don't use codes any more because of achievements is dishonest as well. They can easily be disabled for anyone using a cheat code).

In all fairness Watch Dogs neither looked much better nor ran any better after editing that .INI file. All it really did was add a really intense depth of field filter that was detrimental to gameplay beyond making screenshots look like they're from Instagram.

There was other stuff in there too like shadows when something is in front of headlights and just more accurate lighting overall.

It also partially fixed the stuttering issues that plagued the game.
