Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot made a final gesture and then dancers rushed on to the stage. Michael Jackson's "Beat It" began pumping in the auditorium. Feeling the rhythm and the need to earn their paycheck, the dancers began to vibrate and do their thing against a backdrop of a game that wasn't, to my recollection, announced. This is how Ubisoft's E3 2010 press conference came to a close.
But never fear--press materials released after the event have confirmed that Ubisoft is developing a dance game, which is apparently being called Michael Jackson: The Game. According to these sacred documents, Michael Jackson: The Game is set to "provide an interactive experience" that allow users to "relive his most iconic performances through their own signing and dancing." The magic of Kinect, the PS Move, the DS stylus, and the Wii remote will make this all possible.
Confirmed tracks for this title include "Billie Jean" and "Beat It." Confirmed dance moves include an "array of awe-inspiring dance moves." Ubisoft must be referring to the Moon Walk and crotch grab there.
"We’re delighted to have the opportunity to develop a game based on the songs and moves of one of the world’s most incredible performers of all time,” Guillemot said in a statement. “We expect the game to bring Michael Jackson fans, families and friends together with the energetic song and dance of The King of Pop.”
Micheal Jackson: The Game is slated for this holiday. It will see releases on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS. Yeah, the Nintendo DS.
