Ubisoft's Your Shape To Feature Classes, Cardio Workouts

Exercise without weights or a controller.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood developer Ubisoft is poised to be one of the first studios ushering fitness to the living room via Kinect, the Xbox 360's hands-free controller.

The game? It's called Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and it appears as if it could provide a meaningful level of fitness challenge. During Microsoft's E3 2010 press briefing, it was announced that the Your Shape is set to feature real cardio workouts like kickboxing, as well as casual low-impact exercises, and even yoga.

A full-body scan will determine workout loads, while an on-screen trainer will provide motivation via voice and muscle envy. But if exercise isn't what you want, you'll also be able to take "classes" inside the game.

To be honest, Your Shape was the most exciting thing I saw Microsoft's Press Conference.  I liked the measurements and specified exercises.  We'll see though, it could be bunk.

Seems like a better version of EA Sports Active

The motion tracking looked kinda 1:1 .

Posted by crazyleaves

looks neat, my wife will dig it.

I don't know, looked cool there but those exercises looked really weak. Didn't look all that promising...

The DRM is really intense. You have to stay on a treadmill for the entire time you're playing.

its BLASPHEMY !

Looked cool. I wanna kick the shit out of cubes in my lounge.

Enjoy the magic of your environment.

I'm interested but weary...

Eat less,  exercise more.  It's not rocket science people.  And you don't need some 150+ add-on and 50+ dollar game to tell you that.

It looks interesting, but it's definitely not for me.

This is one of the better games shown for Kinect. It seemed to lag, which hopefully they can fix, but I will probably get it! I hate working out, so turning it into a game will help.

I do not like doing cardio.  If this game can make doing that interesting and fun I'm all in.  Yoga looks pretty relaxing too.

I kinda wanted to not like this because I rage at people thinking that Wii Fit will actually get you in shape by itself, however this didn't actually look that bad, I could see it turning out well.

Ubisoft also has two other games for launch:  The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout and Motion Sports.

You could always start lifting the TV, Brad.

Definitely not something targeted at me, but it's good competition for Wii Fit.

Too little, too late, i say.

Your Shape looked pretty good. Hate the name though.

It looks pretty good. It has a very smart system that really helps you improve on a person's exercise. Also it wasn't super lame as all of the other Kinect games.

The fitness game was actually the most impressive demonstration i thought. Apart from the slight lag (which hopefully they will fix) it was very cool how well it tracked the woman demonstratings movements. The actual excersises seemed a little lame but it was just an early showing and i'm sure the whole thing will improve before launch. Also, as someone who is generally too lazy to excercise i may actually purchase it if the achievements are a little more long term and encourage the user to actually get fit to earn them. That would be amazing i think.

No Jenny McCarthy, no deal.  Thanks anyway Ubi

Hey! A thing I don't care about.

Dance Central looks like a better workout.

You know, for what it is this actually looks pretty neat. I guess it depends on the price of admission, but it looks like a really neat fitness program.

Nintendo might be prepping some lawyers to see if they can stop this.

Posted by WinterSnowblind

The technology here was actually very impressive, and it seems like a feasible way to train yourself real techniques (and martial arts!) without going to actual classes.

Is there nachos eating exercise?

Posted by DeF

the presentation actually really excited me. and I don't care for fitness games in general!

best Kiinect game so far. all that racing crap ...bleh

Posted by eillothebadger

Here's hoping for a regular pop-up.
Namely one saying " Your Shape  -- Egg!"

Posted by TheSmilingDude

Both Abraham Lincoln and John Wilkes Boothe wouldn't need weights to add to their Force.

I might need this...

This was the one thing that actually looked interesting to me for Kinect. Too bad I have this thing called a gym membership already. Why would I pay $150 for a Kinect + the $60 that I know this game will cost when I can do SO much more at the gym? I will tell you. I won't.

Seems like something my girlfriend would love to use while I'm waiting to play something like Halo Reach.  Pretty neat, though.

Posted by giyanks22

I think it will have a lot of appeal, just not for gamers....

Posted by Asadasa5

Your Shape was pretty terrible on the Wii, so I don't expect much from this iteration.

Posted by kalmis

Hmm sure why not, not my wife probably dig this

Posted by Deathstalker360

Seems like a well thought out product but i am not interested in it.

looks good for what it is. Not the sort of thing i want though.

Indeed. That was the only thing in the entire MS press conference that looked even remotely interesting. I would be willing to pay $20-$30 for it, but unless they show other things that look as interesting I could not justify buying a Natal to use it with. Unless the Natal device itself is around $15-$20.

Also, I will laugh if they expect people to pay a full $80-$90 each for one of these Natal games like a regular 360 game costs. That animal game looked like it could be cute to play with for a few hours. Personally I would love to see them remake Black and White with this thing.

Kickboxing? I'm sold, I don't have to go to martial arts anymore.

The kinectimals game is only cool if they ship it with the kid that demoed it. she was the cutest child I've ever seen lol (somehow this sounds a bit creepy to me ...haha)

Finally something on the 360 to help me reduce (or at least attempt to) my beer gut!

Posted by Chicken008

I like the human made of lava.

Posted by Deathpooky

This and the Dance thing actually looked pretty good.  I still don't see how Kinect can be used for actual games - the sports games looked worse than Wii Sports, the driving game looked bad, and the Star Wars game looked beyond terrible.

I mean, it's amazing they've gotten as far as they can with the "no controller" concept - but for the most part the lack of a controller or any type of physical object seems to make a simplistic or downright unplayable.

Could be good? EA Sports Active was a step in the right direction. Would be nice if these latest versions made the same jumps in progression that EA made over Wii Fit.

Posted by Whiskeyjack

"Fitness Evolved" just put an image of Master Chief in aerobics leg warmers into my head.

With my luck and coordination I'd end up kicking the cat across the room. No thanks.
