When Passions Flare, Lines Are Crossed [UPDATED]

One player's heated rhetoric about sexual harassment in the fighting community causes a furious debate, one that has Capcom apologizing.

No Caption Provided

UPDATE: Bakhtanians has issued a statement in the wake of today's coverage. Read it here.

--

“This is a community that’s, you know, 15 or 20-years-old and the sexual harassment is part of a culture,” said competitive fighting game player Aris "Aris" Bakhtanians on a recent live stream for Capcom's Cross Assault show, “and if you remove that from the fighting game community, it’s not the fighting game community.”

Capcom has since apologized for comments made during a conversation on sexual harassment in the fighting game community, which that quote was pulled from. It was a discussion focused on Bakhtanians, and took place during a recent episode of the company’s Cross Assault reality show. It’s part of a promotion for Street Fighter X Tekken.

Cross Assault started with 10 contestants divided into two teams, Team Tekken and Team Street Fighter. The final four contestants will be determined today, and the last matches begin March 3.

A reader initially pointed out the inflammatory commentary, which took place during day five.

Bakhtanians is the head of Team Tekken, and was engaged in a conversation that chiefly involved Twitch.tv community manager Jared Rea. Twitch.tv is hosting the daily streaming of the day-long Cross Assault episodes.

“The views and opinions expressed by cast members in the live internet program 'Cross Assault' do not reflect those of Capcom,” said a Capcom spokesperson in a statement issued to me last night. “As a company, Capcom believes that everyone should be treated with respect. This particular issue was brought to our attention and has been addressed. We sincerely apologize to anyone that was offended by any comments expressed during the show.”

You can listen to the conversation by fast forwarding to one hour and 45 minutes into the following video. A user on YouTube also collected a series of comments made by Bakhtanians on day one.

For example: "Miranda, I wanna know your bra size."

Tensions were immediately raised over Rea's suggestion the fighting game community, once insular and limited but now steadily growing year-over-year, was potentially alienating outsiders from becoming fans of fighting games or the competitive scene because of inappropriate sexual language. Bakhtanians took issue with Rea's criticism.

Here’s a lengthy transcript of their exchange:

Rea: You know what it is, to be honest with you? We’re getting older. Do you really want to keep hanging around with a bunch of [guys in their] early 20s who don’t know how to treat one another with respect? That’s what it is.

Bakhtanians: Alright, man. The thing is...if you don’t like the scene, how it is right now, it just seems like you’re trying to create...turn it into something that it’s not, and it’s never going to be. You know what I mean?

Rea: That’s really unfortunate [inaudible]...the way it is right now, they want to enjoy fighting games, but they’re so incredibly turned off by [the language].

Bakhtanians: This doesn’t involve me, Jared, I don’t know if you can hear me--this is Aris. This doesn’t really involve me, but if you don’t like onions, you get your sandwich without onions, man. I mean, this is the fighting game community.

Rea: Can I get my Street Fighter without sexual harassment?

Bakhtanians: You can’t. You can’t because they’re one and the same thing. This is a community that’s, you know, 15 or 20 years old, and the sexual harassment is part of a culture, and if you remove that from the fighting game community, it’s not the fighting game community--it’s StarCraft. There’s nothing wrong with StarCraft if you enjoy it, and there’s nothing wrong with anything about eSports, but why would you want just one flavor of ice cream, you know? There’s eSports for people who like eSports, and there’s fighting games for people who like spicy food and like to have fun. There’s no reason to turn them into the same thing, you know?

You can’t go to the NBA and say “hey, I like basketball, but I don’t want them to play with a basketball, I want them to play with a football.” It just doesn’t...it doesn’t make sense to have that attitude, you know? These things are established for years. That would be like someone from the fighting game community going over to StarCraft and trying to say “hey, StarCraft, you guys are too soft, let’s start making sexual harassment jokes to each other on StarCraft.” That’s not cool, people wouldn’t like that. StarCraft isn’t like that. People would get defensive, and that’s what you’re trying to do the fighting game community, and it’s not right. It’s ethically wrong.

I know that you’re thinking “what do you know about ethics? You say racial stuff and sexist stuff.” But those are jokes and if you were really a member of the fighting game community, you would know that. You would know that these are jokes.

Rea: So, ensuring that we alienate any and all female viewers...that’s the ethical thing to do?

Bakhtanians: Well, you know, there are layers here, if you think about this. There are layers of ethics. There are people who are racist and commit hate crimes, right? And then there are people who are racist but they have tons of friends of all colors and they have deep love for those friends. Do you think those people are one and the same? Absolutely not.

StarCraft was brought up several times during the discussion of fighting games role in the larger eSports movement, specifically in regards to what lessons the community should and should not learn from its popularity.

I reached out to Bakhtanians to discuss his comments on Cross Assault, but he didn't respond.

When I contacted Capcom, I included a transcript of the relevant conversation. The company told me the cast and crew had been informed that “any inappropriate or disrespectful comments will not be tolerated during filming.”

Upon receiving the statement from Capcom, I forwarded it in full to Bakhtanians. No response.

And there is one very important fact about this whole story: Cross Assault is not a male-only event. There are two females: Team Street Fighter’s Sherry “Sherryjenix” Nhan and Team Tekken’s Miranda “Super_Yan” Pakozdi.

During the exchange, as matches raged in the background, Pakozdi chimed in about Bakhtanians’ explanation for the pervasiveness of inappropriate sexual language within fighting game culture.

“It hurts the community,” she said.

Everyone in the stream made reference to Keystone events at the San Jose Bar & Grill in San Jose, California, a spot that’s reportedly known for its more crass comments about during play. Pakozdi acknowledged it was an issue during Keystone events, but that it never went, from her perspective, over the line.

“You don’t know where the line is,” she declared.

“My point is is where I’m from, in our arcade, our line may be different than yours,” responded Bakhtanians, “but the point is that fighting games are never gonna be the same as StarCraft, it’s never gonna be the same. You can’t turn basketball into baseball, no matter what you do.”

Rea said sexual harassment was less of an issue in the StarCraft community, a point that others, including Bakhtanians, pushed back on. He conceded. Regardless, he argued, private matches can’t be controlled, but the actions of the participants and audience members raised the real concern.

Again, here’s a snippet:

Rea: When I go to MSL or MLG and someone blows up a ghost [Starcraft], does someone go “Yeah, rape that bitch!”?

[group laughter]

Bakhtanians: But, you know, Jared, you’re right. But if there was that much money being spent on Street Fighter, it wouldn’t be happening here, either, you know. There would be more rules, there would be security here, it’s not the same thing. It’s not the same thing.

Rea: When I go to SoCal regionals and I see a Phoenix [from Marvel vs. Capcom 3] on main stage getting blown up and there’s some dude in the audience just yelling “Bitch! Bitch!” every time she gets hit and then she killed and goes “Yeah, rape that bitch!” Yeah, that’s totally acceptable! Really? Really? You’re going to tell me that’s acceptable?

Bakhtanians: Look, man. What is unacceptable about that? There’s nothing unacceptable about that. These are people, we’re in America, man, this isn’t North Korea. We can say what we want. People get emotional.

There was some light discussion after this, but it mostly trailed off.

Pakozdi, who was assigned to work with Bakhtanians as part of Team Tekken, did not simply blow things off. Like many people, she signed onto Twitter and expressed disappointment over the day’s events. She eventually deleted much of her commentary, but it was captured by the same reader who tipped me off to this in the first place.

“I hope my mom isn’t disappointed with all of this shit,” reads one tweet.

“Capcom and the stream teams know and they don’t care. I just gotta wait 2 more days,” reads another.

“I’m not leaving because by contract I have to stay here 2 more days. If it were up to me I would have left long ago," she said.

Bakhtanians is a well known in the community, explaining his Cross Assault involvement.
Bakhtanians is a well known in the community, explaining his Cross Assault involvement.

I reached out to Pakozdi, but she did not respond.

Day six of Cross Assault took place yesterday. Pakozdi played, but if you start watching around eight hours and 32 minutes into the stream, where she's playing as Balrog, she doesn't even attack. She just pushes forward on the stick. This continues in the next matches, where she plays as Ken using the same "strategy."

Essentially, she's given up.

Per the rules of the show, she would then have to face off against John "Dr. Sub-Zero" Rockafeller, who was already eliminated. If he beat her in three out of five matches, he would be "revived."

Instead, she forfeited. Moments after she bowed out, Rockafeller looked over and handed his prizes over to her.

“I would like to donate everything to Super_Yan for being an angel,” he said.

Bakhtanians also contributes the website Avoiding the Puddle and the site’s associated Twitter account.

“esports,” he wrote last night.

Previously, however, he did have his own personal Twitter account. What’s listed in his bio?

“Fuck you.”

wow 44 pages. kinda proud how the Gb community is all fired up about this.

Aris's comments to Super_Yan were beyond pathetic, but the fact he defends misogny as being an integral part of the fighting game community shows that he's a loser.

@Napalm: If it offends delicate sensibilities, people can avoid it. She said she could handle it, she couldn't. Cried. Quit. First and foremost it's up to those at the heart of that community to change or not change the culture they built and accept the consequences. Not whining dabblers and internet white knights/kids who took feminism 101. Isms become near infinite the more offended you want to get in the "who can be a better victim" game.

It is these kind of things that make me not wanna play fightings and I'm not even a woman. This is also the reason why fighting games will never become as big as something like Star Craft. Not that fighting games need to be but I feel like this is something that is not gonna change, which is whyI just take it as what it is and turn the microphone off and just play the game. Ignore them, move on and find other people who do not need to act like immature high schoolers.

@patrickklepek: Now that I have more time to write a full, proper reply, great article, Patrick. I look forward to your follow-up on this after you've sifted through the undoubtedly enormous amount of feedback you've received.

As much as I've enjoyed fighting games, I've always watched the FGC from afar as this odd, incredibly exclusive subculture. True, there are plenty of guys and gals involved in it that are absolutely fantastic people to interact with, but all the same, from my experience, there are also a lot of people involved in it that treat it as some sort of secret treehouse club where people below a certain level of skill or who aren't fully dedicated to mastering every intricacy of a particular game are made to feel incompetent and unwelcome. That a person like Bakhtanians managed to climb to a position of supposed authority and became a face of the community is indicative of there something being wrong. Now, there are certainly great people that are also well-known faces, like Daigo and Justin Wong, but all it takes in a case like this is one supremely bad apple to spoil the whole bunch.

And gathering from responses of some others in this thread, it's evident that there are a number of people associated with the FGC that really aren't aware of how damaging and foolish Bakhtanians's behavior is. Yes, when I'm with a group of close friends and playing fighting game there is shit-talking and coarse language. But we do draw a line; I don't go about denigrating my female friends by by making sexist remarks. That shit just isn't cool. And when I'm in a public forum, whether that be at work, at conventions, or what have you, I behave in a polite manner and keep any shit-talking I do to a polite minimum. I certainly don't make unwanted sexual remarks targeted at any female companions.

I have a friend whom I play D&D games with regularly. He's bright and creative; perfect for the role of Dungeon Master. But in social situations, particularly in his interactions with the opposite sex, he is a callous imbecile with the emotional maturity of a twelve-year-old. I do not say this lightly; his antics have gotten him in trouble with mutual friends of ours on more than one occasion, and there have been times when I've just barely held myself from telling him to fuck off. You might ask why I'm a friend of this guy; well, he's working out his issues. I hope. It's kind of touch-and-go, but a number of us want to see him get better. That being said, there's only so much I'm willing to take from him, and I'm coming close rand closer to drawing the line.

My point is, my friend seems no different from Bakhtanians, who seems to have let his emotional immaturity run unchecked for far too long. He's old enough that he should know better by now, and that to allow the FGC to continue to thrive and expand, not just as an eSport, but in general, he has to learn to grow up.

this is a good article.  I didn't watch cross assault because it sounded stupid, so just hearing about this now.
Being a fan of competitive starcraft and fighting games, aris is the exact reason that it's way harder to recommend a fighting game tournament to anyone. It's very easy to say to someone "Oh, you should watch this TvZ match, it's a really good back and forth set", and it'll be safe to have someone watch it..
You wanna reccomend a fighting game set, you have to stop and think "who was commentating that match, how much racist/sexist/idiotic shit did they say?" It's mind boggling that you have people so profoundly bigoted and stupid that they are, like aris, actually proud of the way the fighting game community treats women. "Hey, if you don't want bigotry you should go play starcraft instead".

On the plus side, it comes as no surprise that Alex Vaille isn't harassing his team, becasue alex vaille actually has allways seemed like a descent human being.

Disgusting. As an adult I find it more and more difficult all the time to enjoy video game discussion and events on the Internet. It makes me sound like an old man, but I wish the gaming community would learn to show some respect for people in general. It's really not hard. I get older and the average age stays the same. The Giant Bomb guys know how to put on events and be funny without resorting to easy race/gender/etc stereotypes. That's why I'm a member of this site.

Examples like these guy is what kids consider role models these days; do i need to remind myself what happened at a High School at Columbine, CO or Ohio. Also, these is the exact reason i don't play multiplayer/online games. Racism, Sexism and Xenophobia are the reason why gaming gets a bad rep. Hopefully this no the future of gaming especially fighting games

If this is the kind of crying and hand-wringing that ensues, "Esports" just needs its own version of a WNBA that no one gives a shit about and no one watches because comparatively speaking it's unskilled garbage. I can remember an 8 year old boy getting close to the finals at the last EVO. Can't remember a single woman getting that far.

Real talk: name a single thing women have ever invented that men clamored to be a part of? Vagina doesn't count. Everything from dungeons and dragons to combat sports started as a by dudes, for dudes cool thing.

If the community doesn't want to change and is willing to give up some or all of the corporate money to be free, it's their choice. The choice of the guys who were there from day 1 and paid their dues. They don't need your idealistic bullshit moral highground finger wagging.

Or it's entirely possible mainstream culture accepts the behavior. Look to rap lyrics and torture porn style horror movies for one. Competitive outlets must exist. You cannot shut away the primal and negative sides of human emotion because in your rainbow sunshine worldview that would be real nice.

Those of you going nuclear at this smack of hyper liberal idealists who are either ignorant or willfully naive about how the real world with real people works. It's ugly. We're tribal.

Look at your righteous indignation and understand there are people who legitimately wish one or all of their hobbies never went mainstream. Back when it was just the truly passionate working in the trenches without leeches and Johnny come latelys trying to change the shit the pioneers built. And people who wanted to be a part of it had to be able to handle it.

This situation reminds me of the vast majority of women who tried to hang in one of my former kickboxing gyms. They would talk a good game, but the first real, full force punch to the face, and they were gone. The ones who stayed and flourished weren't the cry babies, mentally weak, victim mentality types.

Man, as stupid as Aris' comments are, I still think some people try WAY too hard to get offended, women more often than men, it seems.

Dumb shit like "Rape that bitch!" is said by plenty an idiotic gamer, to men quite often as well . Then they say the same shit to a woman, and now you're not only an idiot, but you're a sexist too!

I don't support any stupid dialogue as such, but "closing off a community to people" and "people trying way too hard to get offended by dumb shit and thus avoiding your community" are two different things.

It's like calling a man a sexist because he's openly berating a woman. Her gender has nothing to do with it, the man just happens to be a fucking asshole.

Really, portion of the giant bomb community? You honestly can support his behavior after watching the video? The guy isn't trash talking her, he is touching her uncomfortably while her attention is on the game, talking about her thighs over and over again, and directly questioning her about her cup size and making guesses as to what it might be. Those things, by definition, are things that would get a sexual harassment suit filed at any workplace.

Don't try to defend it as free speech, don't tell her to go find a different community. Don't say that it doesn't matter because he does it to guys as well. None of those things really matter, what right does he have to make her feel uncomfortable on a team that he is supposed to be responsibly coaching?

You want to know why there is still a stigma on video games, and the communities that surround them? Because the communities built around them are filled with people like this, and defend exclusionary behavior that prevent outsiders from feeling comfortable in them.

Sad to know that there are still people who would rather see it be a boy's club than change their behavior to allow other groups to belong.

I agree with you, but at the same time, I think we also need to show love to the people who ARE doing it right. That MLG doesn't tolerate that bullshit should be commended. It's not enough to tell the offenders that they're wrong. We have to cheer the good guys too.

Also, these.

Y'know Jared Rea said once on the SF3: First Strike TNT that the fighting game community is basically that weird uncle you have that has entirely different social views, different political views, so on, that you really only ever want to see at a reunion.

Guys like Aris are kind of useful as evidence of that. People that've lived in a social bubble for so long that they think "hey, if I demean anyone who comes in contact with me, that's just part of the game!" Bleh.

- I just want to say how great it is that you write these articles. All too often the opinions of gamers who aren't teenage boys are completely ignored by the media. I honestly would pay to be a member of this site regardless of exclusive videos as long as you keep giving a voice to the people who are ignored by the very corporations whose existence depends on their support. Gamers want so badly for our medium to be accepted by general society yet we continue to perpetuate this attitude of racism, sexism, and homophobia that all but ensures that we will never be taken seriously. I'm honored to support a site that doesn't ignore this problem and indeed gives it page space that would on other sites be reserved for pointless Top 10 lists. Seriously, congrats man. Whatever anyone says, this site is better because you are a part of it.

I was actually live there in the stream when Jared had this conversation, and you could see it was blowing his mind and it, frankly, blew mine as well. The fighting game community has such potential for greatness, but the acceptance of this kind of mentality is killing it.

I'm glad that, particularly with Giant Bomb and some other communities, the fighting game sub-community has been built on mutual respect and positivity, and I sincerely SINCERELY hope that the majority of the larger names in the FGC do not behave this way or hold these beliefs. I'm not optimistic, however.

I am a member of the FGC in that I am what they call a stream monster and have been for years. I play the games causally but don't enter tournaments but I watch every one I can. I know Aris through that manner. He has always been a person who uses crude humor, it's his schtick. He's not really a bad guy. In fact, most people will say he is quite nice past the exterior. Now it does not excuse his actions but there are two things to consider here you are oblivious to.

First of all, Aris was hired as the coach for Team Tekken because of his persona. They wanted drama, it's a reality show, they even have a segment called "the salt mines" where they interview the losing player. Salt as in tears. They knew what they were getting when they hired Aris and had he not have acted his part then why hire him?

Second, SuperYan did not tell Aris it bothered her and to stop. Sherry, the other female on the show, said in an interview just such and that had she told Aris to stop he would have. Aris thought she was cool with it. He did it for drama and ratings and thought Superyan was ok with it. Aris may be sexist for real but you can not discern it from this incident. And to be honest I'm inpartial to the guy so it's not like I really care to defend him but let's get the whole truth out there if you're gonna cover a story. Both sides, full picture, not just one.

By the way to the guy mentioning his actions to Kayo-police. Just know Kayo-police is a guy. Again that may not excuse things but it shows he was joking because Aris is not homosexual. The FGC's humor is crude to be sure and it crosses the line from time to time and this may be such an incident but it's being overblown.

This is why I'm into poverty fighting games. You never see this shit on FinestKO. :P

Also, it's probably been mentioned before, but one guy =/= a whole community. He's still an ass, though.

@user_1: You've certainly missed some stories and videos. There have been EVO related stories and videos. The one about Noah for example is worth checking out. The Big Live Live Show Live featured Noah on it showing off his gaming skills and talking about EVO.

I'm pretty sure a lot of what was said on that YouTube video came from the stream chat. I am no fan of aris but the stream chats on these events are simply awful. The real problem is the fighting community itself, not just aris. I love playing these games in the local Milwaukee scene but the comments made in stream chats on most events are just repulsive.

Part of why I stopped watching fighting games. I got SOO hyped during EVO, but future tournaments turned me off, particularly with their profane communities, both the stream monsters and the commentators.

Well, this dude is a schmuck. Wonderful, when folks use "this is America not North Korea" to justify being a waste. You have the right to be a bigot apparently means you're obligated to exercise that right, and expect zero brushback; especially when playing video games with your energy-drink-chuggin', mom's-basement-livin', bros. Not sure why liking a video-game and being an idiot are intrinsically related?

Also, in my opinion, Giant Bomb is the only gaming sight that qualifies as a provider of journalism.

Hope that dude, who is clearly in his thirties, has fun running with a crowd of people he describes as 15-20 year olds. I hope someone feed him a fight stick, rectally.

He was saying the scene is 15 to 20 years old.

The guys argument that "Sexual Harassment is to Street Fighter, as A BASKETBALL is to THE GAME OF BASKETBALL" pretty clearly lays out how completely moronic the guy is presenting himself.

Sexual harassment is not okay. That's why is has the word "harassment" in it.

That comparison takes the cake.

Where was the recording of SherryJenix on Team Street Fighter side talking to ILJoe about this. Sherry said that other people from Team Tekken side told Aris to stop. Sherry also told Miranda to straight up tell Aris to fuck off, but Miranda never did.

http://www.twitch.tv/thisislijoe/b/309985394 @ 5:32:12 This where SherryJenix talked to ILJoe discussing about the show and Miranda. The conversion ends at 5:41:35.

and of course this comment will be ignored.

I feel really bad when sexual harassment stuff comes up in places I like because it shows me that no matter how great I THINK a scene is, there's a lot of idiots in it trying to justify sexism and misogyny.

This comment section is no different.

Also to those saying that we need to stop blaming the whole fighting community, that's somewhat valid. The scene is obviously hostile to women and anyone saying otherwise is lying, but to be fair it could easily be argued that the gaming scene, hell the entire INTERNET is shitty towards women. Don't take that as me advocating the attitude of "well there's worse stuff going on out there so why make this a big deal." If this makes people more aware of how casual and normalized this stuff has become, the better. We SHOULD be making a big deal out of shit like this.

@Vorbis: The issue for me is that he sat in a room full of people who didn't say a word to him about his behavior. If he can get away with acting this way on a live stream, in a room full of other people, what are the odds that he acts any different when the cameras aren't there? Furthermore, what are the odds that his views don't represent a good size of the fighting game community? Hell, just look at this thread if you need examples of people supporting his behavior.

I'm not going to defend anything Aris said. I would never treat anyone, male or female in that way. The only time I have seen the FGC covered on giantbomb is an article in July mentioning EVO and MLG finals, that was in July.

I wrote a message to Patrick and Alex about cross assault, asking if they would be writing something on the site about members of a community (specifically Team Spooky and IPW, who have run free streams for the FGC for years) having a chance to work with a developer on something unique. Or an article talking about how cool it is that 10 people who love capcom fighters have a chance to win 25,000$ from the developer! Instead they didn't cover it, until this controversial story.

Where are the giantbomb articles praising the good things in the community like Justin Wong winning the first two majors on the road to evo season this year in both SSF4 and MVC3? I can see feel good doublefine storys about yay the community came together for doublefine, but not yay capcom is reaching out to their community? It is inconsistent.

We all have our opinions, I can respect yours and I understand where you are coming from. As someone that was hoping giantbomb could cover the competitive scene in more detail for the past few years with, Jeff understanding fighters more than the average reviewer. It upsets me that I see nothing about it for months until something like this happens, because 99% of the FGC are amazing people.

Giantbomb should either cover competitive gaming, or leave it alone altogether, and I can see my Evo story once a year here.

I'm going to go to one of these are yell "rape that Ni**er!!!!

What the fuck is your damage?

Haven't you heard? That is what the community is like and he said it was ok to say what you want.

So you choose to perpetuate the status quo? You're the worst kind of person. Even if you're joking, that's a fucking terrible joke and you should be ashamed of yourself.

He even said that shouting out "I'm going to rape that bitch" was part of the community of fighting games. Obviously I was joking, I was pointing out the fact that if I went and yelled that out I'm sure any African Americans would take offense. So why is ok to say "I'm going to rape that bitch" when there are women in attendance? Obviously I think that the guy saying that sexist comments are just part of the culture is fucking stupid. Everyone should be able to go and compete and not be uncomfortable.

Just because some other ignorant fuckwad with a stupid beard says it doesn't mean it's okay for you to say anything you want, even in jest. Even as a "lol I'm going to post about this on the internet for a laugh" joke. Especially if it involves you calling someone a nigger, you colossal bigot.

This article feels so incomplete. When you show only one side of the story, no one should judge the FGC. So the inresponsability of a immature member of the FGC make everyone look bad in the FGC. Patrick there are plenty of pro players that do not act or aprove of Aris behavior yet everyone which doesn't know anything about FGC are commenting without knowing. But whatever hopefully this article n incident will help the FGC grow. Next time try to get more information than no comment.

Nah, fuck this guy. He should be called out and mocked for being an entitled manbaby.

Agreed. He makes the rest of the community look horrible with that caveman attitude. Don't forget his "treatment" of Kayopolice during EVO 2011.

If the FGC isn't willing to toss him aside, it deserves 100% to be cast in the same lot.

@triviaman09: Yeah I think it is kinda different. I know I never use that word. Network television bleeps that six letter word. On the other hand bitch has become a non censored word on network television. I'm not going to say they have their finger on the pulse of the populace but if it really offends people they get would not allow it due to profit motive. I don't claim to understand why it is different but society seems to mind the term much less.

@Duffyside: Genuis! We'll stamp out inappropriate behavior with more inappropriate behavior! Not only will that make everything better, it totally won't inspire yet more of the same in response.

I feel... I feel like that time Superman realized he needed to team up with Lex Luthor to defeat Darkseid. That to save the world, he had to team up with the world's greatest enemy.

I... yes. It has to be done. No matter the cost.

Guys? We need Leigh Alexander to get involved in the fighting game community.
