Xbox Live Summer of Arcade Titles Have Prices, Dates

Time to get out the old Google calendar and plan your summer accordingly.

We learned what titles would compose 2011's Xbox Live Summer of Arcade lineup, but dates and prices were previously unavailable. Now Major Nelson, Xbox's resident mouthpiece, has let slip the dates and points pricing for each of the five available titles. Thanks, Larry.

"Yo! It's like Limbo and shit! But you got a spaceship, dawg! It's trippy!" -- Some guy at PAX East who resembled Seth Rogen in a do-rag.

Supergiant Games' stylish action RPG Bastion will lead off the pack on July 20th, followed by Ubisoft's peculiar-looking god game, From Dust, on July 27th. August begins with Michel Gagne's kitchen sink side-scroller, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, dropping on the 3rd, followed by the Kinect-enabled version of Fruit Ninja on the 10th. Finally, rounding out the pack is Toy Soldiers: Cold War, which closes out the summer on August 17th.

All of the titles under the Summer of Arcade banner will retail for 1200 points ($15), with the sole exception of Fruit Ninja Kinect, which will go for 800 points ($10).

As an added bonus for those who really like spending Microsoft points, anyone who buys all five of the Summer of Arcade titles will get free access to Microsoft Game Studios and Certain Affinity's action RPG Crimson Alliance when it releases on September 7th. That game will retail for 1200 points when it launches.

So, which among these are you planning to pick up? I'm sure Microsoft is banking on you just buying all of them all willy-nilly, but c'mon. Let's be realistic here.

The only game on that list I know is want is Toy Soldiers, but I might have to get Bastion as well just because of the Giant Bomb connection.

Really looking forward to Bastion and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. The other three don't interest me so much (From Dust should prove to be really good, I'm just not much of a fan of its genre). Shame this and last year's Summer of Arcade haven't been as great as 2009's. Shadow Complex, MVC2, Splosion Man, Trials - the only dud was the disappointing Turtles in Time remake.

I hope Bastion does alright. I really like the look and feel of the game, but will the game play hold up? The combat seems pretty basic.

There's 3 on there I'm interested in, 1 of which I already plan on getting. I may get 4 (all but the kinect title) but who knows. Cool line up this year, though.

Fruit Ninja Kinect would be great if the pricing was more in line with what it costs on iOS. $2 "toy" games on Xbox Live would be a good match with Kinect, I think.

I'm amazed Trenched did not get in and Fruit Ninja did. I have Fruit Ninja on my iPad and like it but man I can see that getting boring real quick for Kinect.

Basic? It's pretty complex from what they've shown. Bunch of different weapons with different attributes, bunch of enemy types, strategies needed, etc.

Bastion and From Dust are my picks.
Someone will have to clear up Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet to me - it looks like Outland but with spaceships? (which isn't a bad thing, but $15 might be too much)
Since I got a Kinect I've been eyeing Fruit Ninja - need something other than Child of Eden to play (which for the record is kinda garbage w/ a controller)

I would pick some, mainly Bastion, From Dust and Toy Soldiers: Cold War, but €15 for each is a bit pricey for me. I'll wait till they're on sale, I guess.

Bastion 100%, From Dust 90%(looking for reviews to basically say "well it doesn't suck"), probably not the others. I do think I want crimson alliance when it comes out. Fruit ninja actually looks kinda cool but I don't have a kinect yet.

Really not a fan of the fact that 15 bucks became the de facto XBLA price. 5-10 is much more impulse-purchase-range for me.

I'm only interested in Bastion and From Dust.  I still have some reservations about Bastion.  Watching the development progress has made me feel connected, but I'm really not sold on the gameplay yet.  I still have to play it to make a decision.  But then it's XBLA with it's free demos so it that is no risk.   I don't buy anything sight unseen there.  I mean why would I?

From Dust is the other.  I really loved Out Of This World when it came out so I will give anything that guy makes a try.

XBLA games were 800 points back when we had a 150mb limit on them. The games we get these days are much bigger and more complex.. it does make them a bit less of an impulse buy, but I'll never understand this argument. The difference between these games today and the ones from "back in the day" is really astounding.

Slim pickings, this year. Bastion looks good. I'll buy it just to support the team, even though I don't know if I"ll ever actually get around to playing it. Everything else . . . meh. Not really excited by the game that looks like PixelJunk Eden from a few years back, for sure.

Only really interested in Bastion. And Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, I guess, if the gameplay is good. And From Dust I guess, if it reviews well. Ah, fuck.
