You Can Return to Slender Man's Forest Again

Beta test opens up for Slender: The Arrival, and it's possible to play right now.

No, Jack, I don't want to go back.

No one has to wait any longer to be haunted by Slender Man all over again, as pre-orders for the Slender: The Arrival have gone online, and it immediately provides access to the game’s beta.

Head over here to get your pre-order on.

The original Slender: The Eight Pages was created by one guy, Mark Hadley. With Slender: The Arrival, he’s teamed up with Blue Isle Studios and the writers behind Marble Hornets, the surprisingly creepy YouTube series based on the Slender Man mythos. Slender: The Arrival moves beyond the forest, includes new enemies, and moves far beyond the experimental nature of its origins.

The pre-order will set you back $5, or you can pay more for access to other bonuses, including the game’s soundtrack or your name in the credits. When it launches on March 26, it’ll be $10. The beta itself features a revamped take on the now infamous forest environment from Slender: The Eight Pages.

Given Slender: The Eight Pages was one of my favorites list from 2012, you might not be surprised to learn I’ve been following Slender: The Arrival with a rather keen interest. We should also be hearing about a release date for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs any day now, too, which means Halloween is going to be coming early for horror fans...

If you're not familiar with where Slender Man came from, check out my feature from last year.

Was playing this earlier.

I made it about 6 or 7 minutes before I couldn't take the terror any longer.

I thought the original Slender was really good, and this is definitely worth at least checking out the beta for. The section in the beta is obviously identical in terms of core gameplay to the original, but I must say it looks fantastic.

Did Patrick type this all with one hand?

Edit: This might sound kind of mean/weird without the context of his broken collar bone.

The graphics look pretty sweet......much improved over the initial game....debating if worth the pre-order...

The red is really hard to read on a black background, is their a option for yellow links like the old site?

It does strain the eyes a little bit, I agree.

What Marble Hornets and those inspired by it have become is quite a bit more than a simple meme. They've managed to turn a silly concept from Something Awful beyond being just a meme into a legitimately interesting mystery. If you haven't seen the later seasons of Marble Hornets, I do recommend giving them a shot... It's no longer just "tall thin dude creeps your house at night".

I'm too scared to play it. The first one really freaked me out.

I will maybe check this out, I need something to fill that "actually scary game" void since it won't be Dead Space 3 (DS2 worked for me, and yes I know I get freaked out easily playing some games people think aren't scary at all) because it sounds like it has completely abandoned that part of the series.

Is this game multiplayer?

This would be great for Spookin' with Scoops. Hope that's a thing in the future.

The IOS game Slender Rising is also pretty cool, they really found a way to keep it thrilling while not being so encumbering on the phones.
