I bought my Xbox pretty much because of that video. Saved up cash for quite some time, took a train to meet some dude and bought it.
 
Halo is such a great game, I easily forget.. Must have completed it in co-op with my best friend when I was what, 14-15, about 30-40 times. My mom even drove me and my friend about 40 kilometers (don't use medieval numericals, soz) so she could buy us an extra controller, because we were always arguing over the only one I had. She didn't have that much money, but she still did it so we could play together. So beautiful.
 
We absolutely loved that game. We did pretty much everything possible, including stacking up as many grenades as we could find, must have looked for an hour while one of us kept watch on the Warthog so the grenades wouldn't despawn (some snow level was the best one for it). When one guy had the grenades, the other one killed him, and the grenades fell. Respawn and repeat. We did some epic, epic jumps, and also played the story a ton. 
 
I think this is probably my first gaming nostalgia moment, and it almost brings me a tear to my eye. So much fun, and so many memories I now hardly remember. Funny how you forget all the good stuff from your teenage years, and only remember the shit.

I'm going to miss it, 1 A.M. is a little late but if I'm up I'll catch a little bit of the stream.

Damn, 1 AM EST. Part of me really wants to stay up, watch, and play together with everyone to send Xbox Live off with a bang, and part of me knows I have to get up by 6.

6 AM is probably the worst possible time for me (UK). I have been going to bed as late as 4-5 recently, but 6 is stretching it. And as I just said, going to bed at 4-5 or anything past 12 makes it hard to wake up at 6. 
 
Huh. It's basically a choice between going to bed at like 8AM, or waking up at 6AM. I'll go with the latter. Fuck Giant Bomb, the things I do for your content is insane...

I got my first xbox for doing so well in my exams, went to my locally owned game store and the owner gave me a copy of Halo 1 for free cos I was always in there, I played it for days and literally thought this was the greatest thing I had ever seen. My friend rang me a day later to tell me he got an xbox as well but thought Halo looked shite and didn't want to buy it, so I went to the same store and bought him a copy, first thing we did was play 2 player deathmatch on bloodgulch( what a map!) for a while, then did coop story.

That lasted us for MONTHS. We began recording our games to VHS(VH-fuckinS) (we called theatre mode before bungie!) and would watch our game sback figuring out ways to improve our skills. We then talked to a few guys in school about halo and gave them one of the tapes (back when dialup was all the rage dling a video was not an option.) They thought it looked amazing so we lent them our xboxs for a couple of days and when they gave them back they already had they're own! We lanned the absolute shit out of that game for years, so many great moments of joy (and anger) just from the multiplayer games we'd play.

When Halo 2 came out three of us thought they had ruined the gameplay (it is awful) but the guy who I had bought the copy of Halo stuck with it, we attended a LAN the day after Halo 2's release where it was in the main competition and my friend won and became the top rated Irish Halo 2 player! We won a shiteload of stuff from that.

We all still play Halo, Halo 3 and Halo ODST (and sometimes Halo Wars, and Halo 2 story) and we cannot wait for Reach to come out.

So, do I need the DLC in order to play online tomorrow? I own Halo 2, and could get a live subscription easily but I heard you might need to buy the dlc. Any truth behind this?
