Your 3DS AR Card Tattoo Doesn't Have to Last Forever

A few markers and a few scribbles later...

Hey, I'm with you, the AR cards bundled with the 3DS are damn cool. I'm not down with making one of 'em permanent on your arm, but Tiny Cartridge found someone who pointed out the obvious: make them temporary. Tumblr user Super Jezmeralda simply drew the AR cards on his arm---and it worked.

This is an interesting article about the tech of the 3ds.

If Jeff or someone wrote it, it would be hailed as genius. This is nowhere near the depths Brad D sunk to...

Nintendo should make stick-on one's, using that plastic sheeting which sticks when moistened with water.

Ok markers, now that makes sense.  But a tattoo??  I read that elsewhere and I couldn't believe someone did that.

You forget, once one website posts news that's its I guess.  You can only read about it at that one place.  How dare you receive that same news anywhere else!  I wonder how these people live their lives when they hear news on CNN but then see the same news on Fox.  It must blow their mind!!

@elko84:  It's not that this might have appeared elsewhere. It's that this isn't even news. It's a photograph with a couple captions that don't convey any meaningful information. The type of stuff that junk-outlets like Kotaku post.

Oh I am so angry that a light-hearted story appeared on a slow news day. I'm not really, I'm just being silly and cute. Like this story. Which I must say was of more interest to me than hearing about bonus demos for games I'll never play in blu-rays I'll never buy. But I'm not complaining in the comments of that article, because I can always not read the stories I'm not interested in.

I went to Kotaku today and it was like "check out this fanart, check out this cosplay, check out this youtube video of a guy weaing cosplay".

I don't want daily news if it's gonna be some guy who drew Kirby on his arm with a marker. You could say "just don't read those articles" but that's why I don't go to most other websites. I don't wanna scroll down the front page, see a bunch o doof-business n close the tab. Less news is FINE, it makes the good shit easier to find.

I just realised I'm not a subscriber right now for some reason.

Wow lots of dudes getting angry over this. I happen to like coming to the site every day and finding more than one thing to read. You're not contracted to read everything guys, just skim past it.

Now, back to my immediate thoughts: Pure wonder and joy ruined by the hateful comments posted in response. This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

I'm impressed that it was able to pick up the drawings properly, considering they are poorly drawn. Pretty impressive.

Reminds me of this, which is a million times more impressive:

You're totally missing the point. It's not that the story is on both Kotaku and Giant Bomb, it's that it's a Kotaku quality story. If Kotaku broke a SERIOUS news story I'd expect it here too, but not fluff stories like this.

Kotaku is basically the Entertainment Tonight of video game news - sensationalised crap, unsubstantiated stories and Brian Ashcraft and co. fawning over Japanese school girls. Leave this kind of "Look it's a cake that looks like Gordon Freeman!!!" stuff to lame blogs like Destructoid (you know, that site that Jim Sterling killed).

We we're promised a NEWS guy, and instead we got another video game blogger. Sigh.

Another video game bloggger? Really? Patrick's articles so far have been of a quality that is not often seen (by me at least) on most video game websites. His articles on the Activision memos were fairly fascinating reads that I enjoyed immensely. Even if you do believe that this exact posting is insubstantial, that does not automatically expunge the rest of his work thus far on the site.

Ok yeah, that's fair enough. I do agree that the Activision memos was great and maybe I overreacted a bit. But I don't want this website going down the "It's a slow news day, post something about Metroid underwear" path. I like Patrick, but I don't want Giant Bomb to become just another video game culture blog is all.

I see what you guys are saying.  I don't visit Kotaku, maybe for that very reason.  But from what I see from the other comments the Kotaku story was about the tattoo, which I agree is dumb and if I saw that here would be like what is this crap.  However, I quoted TooWalrus because he thought this tidbit of information was rad and I agree.  Knowing the 3DS will put Kirby on your arm if you draw an AR card with some markers is neat.  Tattooing an AR card to you for the rest of your life, I don't know, you might what to re evaluate some things in your life.

Anyways, so he posted a interesting little trick for the 3DS that you might not of heard about if you only come to GiantBomb.  Let's not kill the guy or start some "oh man GB is going down the drain" theories.  You either thought it was neat info or you didn't.

Do magazines still print news?
