Brotherhood picks up immediately after the end of 2 with literally no time lapse. It helps to have played two, but I think there is a short breakdown of the events at the beginning of Brotherhood if I remember.

The opening to Brotherhood is seriously a "What the fuck?" moment to anyone who hasn't played 2.

AC2 is practically required to get the most out of Brotherhood, as well as not being 100% confused at the outset. Plus, PLAY ASSASSIN'S CREED 2 IT'S AMAZING.

Fun experiment time. Do not read anything about AC2's plot. Go play the first.. ten or fifteen minutes of Brotherhood.  Come back and tell us what you think.
