One of the things I really liked about AC2 was doing all the upgrading and collecting to improve my Villa. Is there something similar to this in Brotherhood?

@Feanor:  To offer a more in depth explanation...

You do not have access to the villa you had in AC2, however in its place you have the entire city of rome.  There are numerous districts under enemy control and if you assassinate enemy leaders and destroy their seat of power the district becomes free and you can then start buying stores and landmarks within the district.  The more things you buy the more income you receive every 20 minutes, the better discounts you get, and the more fast travel/stable locations are available for your convenience.

    Almost, but not quite.

Also, there is an assassin's hideout in Rome where all of the artwork, armor, weapons, and models of Leonardo's war machines are kept.

The thing I liked was that you could see it visually improving over time. It was a broken town with a few poor people walking around, but as you invested it became advanced and prosperous.

Now you are just running around opening buildings, with no real aesthetic effect...
